This was a repeat stay for us, my kids and my wife also joined. LAST DAY OF SUMMER we said, let's do it again. This time really enjoyed their in house restaurant Sophia. Good mixed cuisine, tasty dishes, bit slow service, but worth the wait. Good quality food needs time to be prepared to perfection. My kids loved the playground area, the nice weather made it even more fun to be out playing around. ROOM was just perfect! Quality Turkish furnishings, paying attention to luxury details. WE CAN ONLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL IN THE HEART OF SAMARKAND!

We absolutely loved our stay here. The hosts were really lovely and helpful. The room and the whole property was incredibly clean, the bed was comfortable, the AC worked very well, water pressure was good, Wifi was fast, and they provided things such as shampoo, conditioner and even toothbrushes and toothpaste. Check in and check out was quick and easy. The best thing was they provided both way transfers from Airport to hotel without any cost .
Location is perfect too, very close to main attractions and food options. Breakfast was lovely, with different stuff and everything was delicious. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Samarkand.

Samarkand is all about amazing sites!
Samarkand is all about amazing sites! I didn't think too much of the city in general but it has my 3 favourite sites in Uzbekistan! Amir Timurs burial chamber in Gur-i Amir is one of the absolute most beautiful places I've ever visited with a strong spiritual atmosphere as long as you get there before the tourist groups arrive at 9.45 am!
The ticket is valid for 24 hours so a late evening revisit is also recommended. Early morning visits to Registan and Shah-i Zinda is also recommended since it does get busy later on and you do want these amazing sites for your self if only for a short period of time!

Of course, it's worth seeing and visiting because it's a piece of history, but you need to go during a time with fewer tourists, otherwise, you'll be moving through a crowd. Generally, 2-3 days is enough to visit all the important landmarks.

One of the historical and most beautiful places to visit.
One of the historical and most beautiful places to visit. Easy to get around. Registhan Square is the centre of attraction. Evening light show is stunning ! One can stay more than two days to explore the surrounding areas and sink in the Silk Route experience. Shopping for souvenirs is irresistable. Food is amazing ; eat sweet melons and Non ( Naan ) without fail. Homestays are great to stay and option of cooking is possible.

We stayed 3 nights at OPTIMIST guest house and it felt like being home. Iskandar, our lovely host, made everything easy for us: booking a tour in Samarkand, a day-trip to the seven lakes in Tadjikistan, taxis at a very good price. We enjoyed very much his company and he was very helpful whenever we needed a piece of advice or when we arrived at around 3.30am from the train station. His kindness and good sense of humor made our trip to Uzbekistan even better.
Excellent location, very central. We could do everything on foot. The hotel is fancy for Uzbekistan, so the price is more expensive than usual. But the room was really large and the shower was larger than in other hotels. Also there were a few restaurants open until reasonably late, which was convenient since we arrived around 10pm. The breakfast was good, but better arrive early :)
The owner is super friendly! We arrived with a late train around midnight and he was waiting for us with a plate of snacks, super welcoming :) The room is very clean and the hotel is perfectly located. The breakfast was the best breakfast we had in Uzbekistan, fresh fruits, samsa’s and eggs. Very good :) We recommend this place
