    Valdez was good.

Valdez was good. Would of like a restaurant to fix what you catch. For the prices to eat I would lot a better portion of food. The fat mermaid was a disappointment. But the Valdez Outfitters was top notch! Would love to come back. We were on No Name for the first fishing adventure. We didn't catch our limit. But we did catch silver & pink salmon. My husband caught the variety of fish. We had 5 people on our boat. Guss did a tremendous job of trying to find the fish. He tried his hardest for us to catch our limit. But the fish didn't corporate. He warn us to watch our poles. So some people missed out on a big fish. I think if you missed your opportunity then the next person should be up to reel in a fish. But everybody had there chance. I think a deck hand would help. But I know it's crowded to make sure everybody gets a turn. Guss needs a chair with cushions.! Then for the second day of fishing. We went on the Chugach girl. Iit was for firther out in the ocean. But the weather wasnt going to corporate. But we went for the smaller Halibut. We caught our limit but they only weigh 15 lbs. We caught out limit on black bass (rock fish). The seats were better, but the waves were at least 6' or higher. It was ruff but we were there to fish. Lloyd was so fantastic. I don't think anybody was waiting for bait. We did get tangled up a bit. But that's the currents fault. Lloyd worked his butt off. The current made it Ruff. I highly recommend the VALDEZ OUTFITTERS ! This was my bucket list trip. Would love to come back to Valdez to Fish. Thank you to Guss & Lloyd. Hope if we do get to come back it's with you guys. Would love to reel in a Halibut thats a 100 pounder or bigger.

Valdez is a wonderful place to visit all times of the year. Early August is awesome expect some rain but the salmon fishing is great and jump on a halibut charter. It’s a great place to spend a few days.

Loved the museums, especially the one with the movie detailing the traumatic events of the earthquake of 1964. Several restaurants to choose from and we enjoyed all the meals we had. Pretty dock area but the highlight was the spectacular waterfalls in the canyon as you approached the city. And Glacier Lake. And Robe Lake where we watched a unique machine churn the water for the benefit of the fish, Nice folks at the Visitors' Center, too.

This is one of the highlights of our two week trip through parts of Alaska. The Salmon hatchery is an awesome place to see bears feasting on Salmon, and the museum is very interesting. We definitely could have stayed longer.

The Glacier Hotel was very clean, and the breakfast was the best complimentary breakfast we have had during our 3 week stay in Alaska. The view of the mountains and the harbor was breath taking. We ate at Mike's Place. Food was ok, but very pricy. The halibut was about 40% higher than any other place in Alaska that we experienced in the three weeks stay from Fairbanks to Homer.

The museum was interesting, the port/marina has many varied boats to look at, the town has some interesting shops in it, and a decent amount of eateries available. The weather was horrible and we were told if you hit a sunny day you are very lucky. I imagine if you could see the surrounding mountains it would be impressive.

Friendly, helpful hosts who warmly welcomed us into their home.. Conveniently near the harbour and downtown with ample parking onsite. A spacious, shared downstairs area solely for guest use, included lounge with massage chair, and dining/kitchen area. The kitchen had everything you needed and the breakfast supplies were generous and varied. The room with its own ensuite was a decent size, bigger than some hotels. Laundry facilities were available with detergent included.

Nice big rooms with a hot bath. Nice breakfasts. Tony the breakfast man is a HUGE asset to this hotel. He is friendly and helpful and nothing is too much for the guests. I think he really takes delight in helping people and waking up to a cheerful man adds that special magic. The reception staff are also A++++

The location is incredible and the staff was nice. We were allowed to check in several hours early. Valdez is a hidden jewel--we could have spent several days there instead of an overnight.
