Cute town and very fun to see decorations for Christmas. There were a lot of souvenir shops. It was very busy over the weekend. Much nicer on Thursday night and during the day on Friday. I would go midweek to avoid the crowds.
We visited on winery nearby.

If the perfect grandma were a city it would be Solvang. It's cozy, relaxing, and welcoming. The food is fantastic, and it's easy to eat too much and feel like a hobbit. We went to Thanksgiving there and I highly recommend it. It can get crowded though.

The rooms provided everything we needed. Nicely updated and appears to be new. the option to use bicycles as another source of getting around is really special but easy to walk everywhere. Great and simple check in and check out. I would recommend this facility and would stay again

Solvang was a riot of Christmas lighting and cheer during our visit. We've never seen a town so all-in on Christmas. The community really lived up to its reputation as hosting of the best Christmastime events in the country. Literally every store, office, or business located on the downtown Solvang streets pulled its weight in putting on their part of a community-wide display that is so warmly received by tourists.

Christmas atmosphere certainly added to the charm of the place - not sure what Solvang would be like outside of the Christmas season.
Found it difficult to find savoury pastry items - most items were sweet.
Serving sizes of meals in most venues were as usual far too big - best to share.
Felt very safe walking around, even late at night.
The guitar chord pub/music venue in Copenhagen street needs more publicity/visibility - very few patrons turned up on the evening we were there which was a great shame as the performing artist was really good.

Solvang is such a unique town, from the architecture, the cuisine, and the local shops. It's a little getaway to old Europe. The hotels are so quaint. You are also near Paso Robles wine country - the best wines in California in my opinion. I highly recommend staying here. This was our second time and we would go back in a heart beat. Almost everything is in walking distance.

While Solvang is already a small town, the hotel couldn't be more central. It was so nice to park the car and visit the town on foot. Everything is nearby, shops, restaurants...
The room was very clean and I loved the white noise/ rain machine for sleep - not something we get in hotels in Europe!
The hotel is in an excellent location close to all the facilities of Solvang but away from any noise. Our room was huge with a good size bed and bathroom
