If you've never seen Redwoods, I highly recommend going.

If you've never seen Redwoods, I highly recommend going. This area is perfect for it. Lot's to see and do. Highly recommend having your own rental car because you will be driving a lot to experience what this area has to offer.

The staff here was amazing despite many being displaced because of the recent fires, down to the housekeeper who made sure I had everything I needed as we waited for the restoration of the power to the area. The room was immaculate and had a breathtakingly GORGEOUS room that overlooked the ocean where I had a front seat view of the sunset over the ocean every night. Although it’s technically a “hote/casino,” the casino is in a completely separate building from the hotel so if you’re not a casino fan, you don’t even have to see one. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone passing through, and it is the most beautiful place to stay in the area.

The room was big, clean. Very nice upgraded bathroom. The facility is fresh and inviting. We enjoy the live music at the sports bar on the premises. The next morning we enjoy the restaurant on the facility. We also are at a Taco place south of the casino. It was delicious.

Smith River was a midway point on our trip home and not a planned destination for sight-seeing. There are very few places to dine there, which would be a problem for multi-day stays. If we were to stay in Smith River again, it would definitely be at Arky's.

This was a business trip for me, so I probably had different expectations than someone on vacation. This is an older property, and although the room was neat and clean it was lacking usable electric outlets, and usable USB charging ports. this could be easily remedied by the hotel. Internet was good, but totally open. Cell signal is very poor inside the Hotel, probably because of the metal roof. There is no Microwave in the room. Instead, they have a safe, so you can keep your food safe you just can't heat it. There is a microwave down the hall and depending on where your room is it can be a bit of a walk. Breakfast is not included, and they did not offer a guest discount for the onsite restaurant. It opens a bit late in the morning, so it is rushed if you are trying to get to work. The restaurant was OK, but there is nothing else close by. Brookings is about 10 miles away but there is a CA inspection station in between to take any produce you have. Would be OK for a night or two for vacation, but not so much for a work week.
