It was in walking distance if many restaurants and shops. We saw a concert at the Filmore and it was a very short walk. The cost for the area is a deal! The bed and room were comfortable.

Very nice and very clean. Walking distance from where I needed to be.
This Silver Spring hotel has a restaurant and offers free Wi-Fi in every guest room. Washington D.C. and downtown Baltimore are within a 35-minute drive of the hotel.
Located within 12 miles of Phillips Collection and 12 miles of Walter E Washington Convention Center, Residence Inn Silver Spring has rooms in Silver Spring.
Walking distance to shops and restaurants. We ate at Outback which was excellent. We went to a concert at The Fillmore which was awesome and only a block away. It was New Year's eve so we just booked a hotel so we didn't have to drive home afterwards. The parking garage was very tight so it you have a large vehicle you probably won't be able to park there. We were in an SUV and it was really tight parking and taking the turns.

This hotel was fine.
This hotel was fine. It met expectations and breakfast was good. The only frustration is that the hotel does not have enough parking for their guests. However, there is parking right next to the hotel. I think not offering free parking for hotel guests is a little bit cheap. The rooms are too expensive to not offer free parking.

Bad location. Run down hotel. Paper thin walls.
Bad location. Run down hotel. Paper thin walls. Front desk manager lady rude. Parking was unacceptable. Checked out early and never got points, refund or receipt. Felt unsafe both in and outside of hotel. This property is not the quality of any of the Holiday Inn Express hotels I've stayed in. It's like IHG bought a Motel 6 and put their logo on it.

We stayed at Silver Spring as a base for visiting Washington DC, trying to avoid paying $400/night or something crazy like that which you would pay for a more central location.
The metro station is nearby, which is helpful - but factor in a $3.80 fare each way to downtown DC.
The area has many restaurants and cafes, none of which are very high end. There is a Whole Foods and another supermarket.
The overall feel is ok - it doesn't feel too safe to be with a young family walking around in the evening.
Overall it is ok, but not really a place for spending a lot of time.

Location was great. Room was terrible!
Location was great. Room was terrible! Mildew smell, had to go purchase air freshener just to stay in the room. Carpet was nasty, heat wasn’t working purchased extra blankets for comfort. Complained to front desk and was told to contact who ever I booked the room with (Booking.com) to complain. Also was told that the Hotel was old and the owners need to upgrade. Would tell anyone that wants to book here not too… the pictures LIE !!

I am only in Silver Spring because I can get neurological therapy here that is not available elsewhere. If it weren't for that, I would not be visiting Silver Spring. Since my therapy may continue for a few months I will hopefully be able to stay here. I can't rate Silver Spring other than that because I did no sight-seeing or touring.

I give this bad evaluation to warn future guest of a malpractice of the hotel to impose an advanced payement for "incidentals".One month later I am still writing to request my refund of 484,58 US $ that I paged on my arrival date 8 of April. More over they never answer to the mails. Otherwise the location and the personnel are very good
Room was spacious, clean and beautiful. The hallways a common areas were clean and the ice machine worked (you will be surprised how many hotels don’t have working ice machines). I appreciated the fully stocked market in the hotel and the breakfast was delicious and affordable.
Breakfast was the same every day. We had the buffet breakfast but this did not include waffles or an omelette as this was an extra charge. So we wouldn’t have breakfast at the hotel another time.
