This motel is going thru a remodel, so things will probably continue to improve. Our room was already updated and nice. The BIG feature of this property is the FANTASTIC Mountain view in the "back yard". If you stay here, you MUST check out the view from the back!!!

The Purple Onion is a great dinner spot with live music the night we were there from a 4-sibling bluegrass group, New Found Gap. The next morning, Wakey Monkey Coffee Cafe was a nice start! There are numerous trails and beautiful waterfalls in the Saluda area. Pearson's Falls was especially nice when accessed from Saluda on Pearson's Falls Road. Why? You will encounter a prize worth the winding gravel road! There's a one-lane tunnel painted by numerous artists and wannabes in the area! In the middle of nowhere, it's well worth the ride.

The problems we had are easily fixable. Better cleaning crew, new mattress and label the wall switches. Once done, this property could be a 5 out of 5 and a beautiful vacation spot. As for Saluda itself, there are several places to eat from burgers to gourmet. The little town is geared for the tourist crowd with antique shops and artisans. If you just want a quiet get-away, this is it.

The autumn view from the fenced in courtyard behind the property was fantastic! There was plenty of seating throughout that area and was especially cozy surrounding the huge, tub-shaped fire bowl. Our double queen room was pleasingly simple yet accommodating with a most comfortable bed, clean, crispy, white linens and fluffy pillows! The beautiful knotty pine woodwork was cabin-like and considering that the lodge is pet friendly, our room was clean and that was very much appreciated. I'm a stickler for moldy caulking in yucky bathrooms but this bathroom was clean! The carpet could use an update along with some brighter decor...and I do think the owners are working on things of that nature. From what I understand, the owners have only recently acquired the property. Love the small, quaint motel vibe...we will definitely be back! One last thing...we saved a few bucks by eating from the local Ingle's grocery store that had a hot bar, salad bar, etc. Not bad at all! A super nice base camp choice for all activities in this area!

Very nice manager...she provided us a room where pets have never stayed, which I asked in advance. The "view" was exceptional in our room that faced the back...we walked right out and enjoyed the mountain view. The new pergola and table and chairs are nice added feature. The room was clean with comfy linens. It was all about the location near a small mountain town of Saluda with plenty of hiking trails, waterfalls closeby and smaller establishments to eat at. We even met the Mayor of Saluda...at the General Store. Charming.
Staff was very friendly and let us in earlier than check in time. The view and back patio was amazing, amazing territory. Location is convenient to explore all nearby mountains and hiking trails. Room was clean, I liked the cedar walls, like a village style a bit. We had coffee machine and a few packs of tea, which was nice.
