Returned after 23 years and still as delightful and welcoming as the first time even under different ownership! Emma was a lovely young lady who greeted us, and helped another couple celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary plan out daily hikes. She was resourceful and interesting. Lovely attic room with pitched ceilings, gas fireplace (which we were unable to turn on even though the pilot was lit). Linens very nice quality. Large bathroom with clawfoot tub and nice toiletries. Breakfast was delicious prepared by the owner John and served by his son John V.

Ledges By the Bay, hotel in Rockland

The View! Bed was comfy and rooms were clean And updated. Kuerig, nice mugs and a fridge and morning coffee on the balcony was a treat! Electric fireplace was a fun feature. The semi-private decks overlooking the bay were the unique aspect of property. Observed geese and a great blue heron on the greens. They have put a lot of work into the property.

Rockland is a great spot as a base to see other mid coast areas. Prices are modest and there's a nice harbor, nice downtown, and a few museums to visit. We enjoyed many of the local restaurants such as Claws, Archer's on the Pier, Home Kitchen Cafe, and Landings Seafood. In South Thomaston McLoon's Lobster Shack is a great stop. There are a couple of nearby lighthouses to see such as Owls Head and Rockland Breakwater Light.

A lovely town with very friendly people.

A lovely town with very friendly people. Most things are within easy walking distance - eateries, galleries, museums, and shopping are on the block near the waterfront. It's a short drive to the lighthouses. Due to delays in my flights, I really only was able to eat and shop one full day in the area. I enjoyed Ruckus Donuts and coffee and went to Rustica for dinner. The Dowling Walsh Gallery is a lovely visit. A visit to the Owl Head and Breakwater Lighthouses are musts! I drove to Camden as well and enjoyed a few hours on the Schooner Appledore.

Rockland has good restaurants and very good art galleries.

Rockland has good restaurants and very good art galleries. They also have the Farnsworth Art Museum, which was very nice. The Breakwater Light House is a great walk, on a very long breakwater. It's also close to other destinations, such as Camden and Boothbay Harbor.

We were there in late May.

We were there in late May. The weather is still unpredictable at that time of year. Many stores were not going to open until June 1st. This made it hard to find a restaurant that was open. There were only a few. You had to drive a long way to visit sites of interest. Again, many in Rockland were closed.

Even in the middle of the winter our weekend getaway was restful, fun and beautiful. Our hotel overlooked the harbor...beautiful sunrise:). We went for a walk through the coastal town, visited several shops, ate at local places along the way( lots to chose from) and went to the art museum. Great place to visit summer or winter!

Great location for touring local sites. The room was well furnished and clean. The shower had good pressure and a massage head. The included breakfast was the best I've had at any hotel. The Rockland Blend coffee was spot-on. The second and third floor rooms offer an excellent view of the harbor. I was very pleased with this hotel especially with it not being a major chain. If I'm in this area again, I would book here first.

It was close to restaurants and shops. The staff were really helpful, particularly Rachel on the front desk who helped us when our car wouldn’t start, taking and making calls to help us out. The hotel was a large property but had several exit and entry points controlled with your key card which was very useful as I find walking is not always easy.

Attended the Lobster Festival in Rockland and this hotel location couldn't have been better! Just walk across the parking lot and you're on the festival grounds. Also very close to main street/downtown area. Free parking was an added perk.
