This is a hidden gem on the Oregon coast. The staff are all considerate, kind, caring, knowledgable & are committed to meeting the needs of all of their guests. This was just a short trip for me…and it was just what I needed (except it was way too short). I’ve been through some very serious health problems this year & I really missed being able to spend time at the Silver Sands. I want to travel & stay there more often…whenever I’m able. This is definitely a clean, cozy & precious motel & I always feel very blessed to be able to enjoy it. I absolutely love it there!

We go here once or twice a year, regardless of the weather. Always enjoy being here, walking the beach and watching the waves. An obligatory side trip to Tillamook cheese to pick up some bags of curds. And at least one breakfast at Grumpy's.

We loved Rockaway.
We loved Rockaway. Quiet, uncrowded, great beach for walking. Not a "beachcombing beach" but lovely. Sweet little town with 2 small grocery stores that open early and close late...which helped our large family stay in groceries and a few things we forgot! Some great local cafes! The view from The Sand Dollar can't be beat ~ great food. Also a few interesting and unique gift and food shops. It was a relief not to have the typical touristy commercial "beach strip."
Just South of town is the Boardwalk through a gorgeous old growth Western Cedar forest. Beautiful level walk for families, kids, elderly & dogs, with lush forest light, river, and those giant trunks surrounding us.

The beaches are gorgeous with lots of seashell finds!
The beaches are gorgeous with lots of seashell finds! The little town is full of cute shops and little cafes. Flamingo Jim's was our favorite place to stop. It's only a 30 minute drive from Cannon Beach where we had dinner twice in our short week! It's a 20 minute drive into Tillamook for the Ice-cream and cheese factory! Rockaway is a great place for families or couples that just want to fresh air and sand beaches!

Great little town.
Great little town. Can walk pretty much everywhere you need to go. Restaurants, shopping and to the beach. Not nearly as crowded as some of the bigger towns with everything you need. Also short jaunts if you wanna go up or down the coast.

It was the perfect spot to lay my head for a couple nights.
It was the perfect spot to lay my head for a couple nights. My family was camping down the road at the Barview Jetty Campground. Since I'm not big on tent camping I opted to stay at the Surfside Resort.
So, I could explore with them by day. We took the train tour to Garibaldi, walked the beach and had a delicious lunch at Beach Bites and Dos Rocas. The service was wonderful! Once the sunset we roasted marshmallows for s'mores tat theri campsite hen watched for shooting stars. Then ole Auntie headed to her room at the Surfside Resort scoring the last parking spot both nights. Whoop! It's a very popular motel.

The staff was pleasant. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had a mini fridge and microwave, which I did not expect. Cable tv with hbo. It's an older Coastal hotel. It's not high end and the value is amazing! There's easy access to the beach. We would definitely stay again!
It's very quiet at this hotel. We love to be able to see the ocean so close to the building, it was clean and we absolutely love the shower head and all of the complimentary soaps and shampoos!! And big white fluffy towels!!
