We did a short walk around the downtown area of the city.
We did a short walk around the downtown area of the city. On many corners there are statues of US presidents which is pretty awesome. Worth looking into if you have time. There is a QR code on the base and you can do an audio tour. Parking is a bit difficult to find. And it is paid parking.

Mount Rushmore is good.
You can do these two in a day.
Do not forget Custer national park. Drive along needle something (I forget its name) into the park, landscape is amazing. Drive thru the three tunnels is a great experience. The needle eye rock is a must see. Thewild life loop is pleasant but not very attractive to us aswe already saw lots of bisons in our last year's trip in Yellowstone.
Sad not able to visit badland as I do plan such.

Great area to visit. Plenty of things to see and do! Mount Rushmore was a great place to visit, Custer State Park was beautiful and the drive on the Iron Mountain Rd, The wildlife loop, and Needles highway were some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. The Badlands was our next stop and it was just amazing! Recommend this be on everyone's bucket list!!!

The city is great lots of sites to see, lots of restaurants with a number of different styles to choose. It all depends on your likings...of course you have the world famous Mt. Rushmore...the Crazy Horse monument, Wind Cave National Park, Custer State park...a short drive away you have the historic town of Deadwood where unfortunately Wild Bill Hickok was shot dead playing cards in the now famous #10 Saloon....In the opposite direction heading east from town you have the famous Badlands and do they ever live up to their title...when the settlers headed west and came upon this area im sure alot of them probably wanted to turn around...You also have the family oriented Bear Country U.S.A. where you drive through a number of animal enclosures filled with...bears....elk...big horn sheep...Buffalo....pronghorn antelope....and wolves...just before you come to Bear Country you have a chance to visit...Reptile Gardens....I can't forget to tell you about the delightful and inviting little town of Keystone on the way to Mt. Rushmore....you have a number of restaurants where you can dine in or sit at a table on the second floor balcony and look down on the bustling street below where tourist from around the country and from around the world are dropping in to candy shops and souvenir shops to find a t-shirt or to endure in some sweetness for their tastebuds to remember from their trip to Rapid City and the beautiful and scenic and historic state of South Dakota...

Here is an idea. CLEAN YOUR GUEST ROOMS !
Here is an idea. CLEAN YOUR GUEST ROOMS ! We tried for the entire 5 days to get our room cleaned. They told us they were too busy! WTH does that mean? Maid wouldn't give us towels. Wouldn't enter the room to empty trash. We finally threw it into the hallway. Had to go to front desk to get more, then requested room cleaned. You can say but that doesn't mean it will get done.

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Rapid City
The location is fine. Everywhere is close. Great view from 8th floor over entire Rapid City. The hotel staff picked me for free from hotel when there was no shuttle available at the airport. Helpful staff, I got some leaflets for excursions around the area, which heped me to organize some travels.
Hotel is in very good condition and seems new. Everything was clean and room was very large. Breakfast had a bit more items than the standard options. I didn't use the pool and slide but it appears to be nice.
I liked the water pressure and that it had hard water. Every other hotel we stayed at in SD had showers that were hard to feel clean in after a shower.
