Port Angeles was not our favorite place in WA...it lacked the charm of other towns but it remains a great base for accessing Olympic National Park. I do think PA is better than Forks. It was a short drive to Hurricane the park. Hurricane Ridge (FABULOUS)and Marymere Falls, and a couple hours to Hoh Rainforest.
It didn't have a lot of choices to eat and as it was high season we struggled to find a table. Our meals were average.

We were just overnighting in PA as we had a ferry to catch to Victoria to have beer and burgers with old friends. We could have made the trip from Tsawwassen where we live, but made it an overnight road trip through Washington and travelled on the Port Townsend ferry. A well planned trip but poorly executed. We booked the ferry for the day after we needed it! We were fortunate to get the second ferry on standby. Love the area, we have been here a number of times. The Olympic mountains, coupled with ocean and lake views, what's not to love. Parking is a problem in the parks.
We dined at the Gastropub Next Door. We waited an hour for a table (they don't take reservations) but the food was delicious, staff were good, and the beer was cold.

PA is a cute town however my experience did not meet my expectations, and they are not high. I dined at a local restaurant and the food was 2.5/5 (pics below-looks good but..). It was average quality for way above average price. It was disappointing. I don’t mind paying for quality but that didn’t come into play. And I’m not hard to please. Would I visit PA again? Yes. It’s cute and the ferry is a huge draw as well as its proximity to the Olympic Ntl Forest.

We were only there two evenings, but were unhappy with both restaurants that we chose for dinner. They were identified as the best or better ones in town. However, we did not enjoy it. We really would’ve enjoyed some good seafood. Decision to stay there was only to see high Ridge in the Olympics and it was fantastic.

Although we were only there for 1 night as we moved on to Vancouver Island the following day, Port Angeles seemed to have the quaintness of a small town, but with plenty of facilities. Obviously the proximity to Olympic NP & ferry services are the main plusses.
I have stayed here for work purposes once a year for many years. I requested a main floor w/water side. I was really amazed at how beautiful and upgraded my room was! It was amazingly nice and comfortable. I will share with others what a great place to stay. I will also be back hopefully soon for fun with family that can be centered around your wonderful hotel. Thank you so much.
The bed was surprisingly comfortable; I have stayed in expensive hotels and woke up with back pain but this was the right firmness and I rested very well! The place is basic but clean and all that matters on a road trip!
Room was very clean and the bathroom was quite nice. I could walk over to a gas station in the morning and grab a breakfast sandwich. It was only a short drive to quality restaurants.
