White Oaks Motel Pennsville/Carneys Point, hotel in Pennsville

White Oaks Motel is located in Pennsville, 25 mi from Philadelphia and 30 mi from Cherry Hill. Each room is equipped with a flat-screen TV. All rooms are fitted with a private bathroom.

We stayed at White Oaks as our halfway point to Outer Banks. We stayed because it was very well priced and also had good reviews. We had items under a tarp in our open bed truck and we were not too worried about our items being left out while we were sleeping. The Motel was very well lit. Hubby said it was one of the best motels he has stayed it. Book going to NC and back. If we travel again by car will definitely be our stopping point to get rest. The owners I assume when we checked in saw that we were a family and one of the rooms which was the king size was on the other end of hotel he put us all together and kept my king size price for the double queen room. He also did it for us on the way back.

The entire hotel smells of marijuana and cigarette smoke.

The entire hotel smells of marijuana and cigarette smoke. The rooms are just ok. Check your towels and washcloths before using to make sure there aren't stray hairs from previous use. Pillows are couch pillow size. Pay your deposit in cash and wait while they inspect, otherwise they refund that day to your card and then charge your card 4 days later saying you smoked in the room. We absolutely did not. My mother even went outside in her pajamas to smoke. Elevator is nasty and ridiculously slow. Not even sure how its passing inspection when most of the safety writing is worn of. Hallways are dark. Room with the ice machine is sketchy at best, and no light. Did not see a sign of breakfast, coffee or anything of the sort while we were there.

For the price, it was ok.

For the price, it was ok. The English of the clerk who checked me in was very hard to understand. I had to ask him several times to repeat himself. The bed was like sleeping on the floor...way too hard and uncomfortable. Supposedly, breakfast was an offered amenity...don't wake up hungry...there was NO breakfast offered and what coffee they had was cold. I cannot give a very high rating this time.

    I didn't really see alot.

I didn't really see alot. I was visiting family for my granddaughters 21st birthday. We did go to Septemberfest. I did enjoy that, in spite of the heat. Grandkids really enjoyed being able to pet the police horse and of course all the candy!

I have stayed all over the world in various grades of hotels...

I have stayed all over the world in various grades of hotels and this by far was the worst experience I’ve ever had. The room we booked smelled like death - like a thousand years of smoked cigars and cigarettes had been burned inside the room. The smell was so pungent, it burned our eyes and make it difficult to sleep. The smell got into all of our clothes that hadn’t even made it out of our luggage. My son and I slept under the covers all night to try to get some quality air to breathe. The towels were thin and poor quality. The shower was terrible and poor quality. Worst of all, the front desk staff was horrible! The guy who worked there was so rude and impatient. We were given options to check out early if the room was not satisfactory by the night staff, but the guy who worked in the morning completely contradicted everything that she said. He refused to give us a refund and refused to change our room. Instead, he gave us a bottle of “smoke remover” spray to spray into the room with no ventilation. I had to call and speak with the manager the next morning in order to get her to change us into a room that was livable. It was truly the worst two nights I’ve ever spent in a hotel and I would suggest that no one stays here. Additionally, the staff was quite rude to others who had issues with their stay. Icing on the cake: the man who works the front desk laid around in the lobby with his shoes and socks off! Gross!
