We absolutely loved the view of Hilo Bay and Coconut Island from the balcony, where we often sat after busy days as tourists. The room was very large and quiet. The dated furniture and decor didn't bother us, and the bed was plenty big. The price was much lower than hotels on the Kona side of the island. We received coupons for free continental breakfasts, so we tried paper cups of oatmeal and a piece of fruit with juice a couple of times.

The location right on a cliff overlooking the ocean was amazing, and it was easy walking distance to downtown Hilo (shops, restaurants, bars). It was also well located for getting to sites like Volcano National Park, Mauna Kea and numerous waterfalls. The property has an old Hawaii feel, with unique spaces and little delights, like a reading nook on the ocean. Breakfast was excellent and the staff was very helpful in helping us find important things like beaches with turtles. Overall loved our stay here.
