We stayed in a lovely old 3 bedroom house - charming antique furniture and decor. Spotlessly clean. Everything we could possibly need was supplied. Quiet location but only a short walk to shops.

The location was great! It was close to the highway and a Fred Meyer. The facilities were clean and the attention to detail was amazing. Our suite was so cute! I would definitely recommend and would love to stay there again!

The cafe and bar being on site were really good and the hotel is in a good location. We had a slight issue booking in where the rooms I had booked through booking.com weren’t available but it was sorted out.

Probably the best Motel I've stayed in in America. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but the room was very comfortable, quality interior, clean, well equipped and felt homely, and as a bonus there are also convenience store right across the street.
We visited four major areas during our 10 day trip to Alaska...
We visited four major areas during our 10 day trip to Alaska. Palmer was the last. Much of what we saw in other places was reasonably modern, dating from 1960 and later, due in large part to the rebuilding required after Alaska's massive 1964 earthquake. However, Palmer, particularly the downtown district, retains much of it's century-old feel while still offering modern services. Some of the best and most affordable food we ate was there. Scenery in the Mat-Su area is superb. The Reindeer Farm southeast of the historic district was great fun, as was Independence Mine near Hatcher Pass above town. We were only able to visit a few things and would love to return to take in others at a future date.

Palmer is a very nice stay within driving distance of lots of attractions. Beautiful hiking areas, great small downtown with coffee shop, bookstore, two breweries and bars and restaurants. A perfect weekend stop or jump off point without having to stay in Anchorage or Wasilla.

Palmer is a quaint small town which is growing very slowly.
Palmer is a quaint small town which is growing very slowly. It is part of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and is located less than 40 miles from Alaska's largest city, Anchorage. Palmer has majestic mountains, rivers, lakes, and wildlife. It is also home to the primary Alaska State Fairgrounds.
We have eaten at several locations in Palmer. There is a restaurant in the Eagle Hotel, but it closed early, so we weren't able to eat there. We did eat at the Valley Hotel's restaurant which is open 24/7 and serves breakfast all day and night. We also ordered pickup from the Great Alaska Pizza Company, located only a couple blocks from the Eagle Hotel.
Tourists and Alaskans alike should check out the Musk Ox Farm, Hatcher Pass, Knik and/or Matanuska Glacier. Also, check out the many small shops scattered around town.
