I had a truly wonderful stay at the Beachliner, and was give a huge cead mile maith (welcome) by Bernadette, the Inn keeper. Bernadette was great craic, had great advice on Asbury, fed me up with beautiful breakfasts, and runs a truly lovely guest house. Location, hospitality, and a beautifully appointed room. Couldn't have asked for more!

I went to Ocean Grove because I was attending a wedding (not mine!). The place was noisy and crowded because there was a "zombie" event. The Zombies were fine, but there was a soundstage where a live "band" was indulging themselves in what I could only describe as creating sound pollution and "musical masturbation". There was no getting away from them. It was awful - how they are allowed by the local council (or whoever is in charge) to ruin what would otherwise be quite a pleasant sea-front, is frankly beyond me. Would I go back? Not in this lifetime!

Ocean grove beaches are clean and the bathrooms are amazingly clean. Beach has lots of families and many guest houses nearby. It's easy to walk to grab some good food on Main Ave to take to the beach (Tino's pizza, sandwiches, and salads are the best! he has gluten free too! Day's ice cream is awesome.) The town is a historically Methodist town, and the beach & town land are still owned by the Christian camp meeting association. You'll see psalms and bible verses written on signs along the boardwalk. If you are uncomfortable around religion, this may not be for you. I'm not religious myself, but to each her own; this is a really beautiful town. Important to note: the town is dry. There are no alcohol sales within OG. But you can head out of town to grab wine or whatever, and you can walk to Asbury Park for restaurants with liquor license or to hit up a cocktail bar.

The place is just not well looked after.

The place is just not well looked after. Things falling off the walls, faucets, heaters and soap dispensirs not working, nobody at the desk in off hours, no daily room service, construction starting at 8 am. Loud!

Ocean Grove is a cute town with charming old houses. Walkable with a lovely, calm boardwalk. Beach access costs money every day of the week. Ask your hotel for discounted beach passes if they don't offer them to you.

Ocean Grove is a very quaint and charming town.

Ocean Grove is a very quaint and charming town. It is small but has shops and some small places to eat. ( A short walk to Asbury park provides more formal dining and nightlife). The boardwalk has rest and changing rooms (and an AED that I hope none of you will ever need!). It has no stands or concessions but is great to walk. The beach is beautiful, clean, very safe and quieter than the other beaches at the shore. Parking can be an issue in the Summer so I suggest getting here early.

Quiet beach, lovely for walking and enjoying the ocean.

Quiet beach, lovely for walking and enjoying the ocean. Pretty houses and well-maintained town. Excellent restaurants in Ocean Grove (we went to the Sea Grass) and in next door Asbury Park (brunch at Toast). I love walking between Ocean Grove and Asbury Park and enjoying two distinct cultures (both wonderful).
