Lodge at Poncha Springs, hotel in Monarch

Situated in Salida, 22 km from Monarch Mountain Ski Area, Lodge at Poncha Springs features air-conditioned accommodation and a garden. Guests can enjoy mountain views.

We were warmly greeted by Dawn, the owner, who gave us cold drinks and great information about restaurants and events in the area. We loved the location because we were able to easily visit Salida and Westcliff. The spacious room had a very comfortable bed, a clean, large bathroom, and nice ammenities such as strategically placed chairs, luggage racks, and boxes of tissues. Elevation Brewing, where we spent a delightful evening, is just down the road with great beer and great company. Afterwards, we truly enjoyed relaxing near the fire pit under the moonlight. We also loved the breakfast next door at the Flamingo food truck--the breakfast burritos were top notch.

Baymont by Wyndham Salida, hotel in Monarch

Located on Route 50 and 1.5 miles from downtown Salida, Prince Hospitality features a lodge-style indoor pool facility. Free Wi-Fi and a daily breakfast buffet are available.

Monique the manager welcomed us, was always ready for a conversation, and responded swiftly to our requests. The housecleaning staff was professional and performed wonderfully. Hot coffee was always available and the coffee keeper was a gentleman. The shower was as spacious as I have seen, with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Thank you for providing plenty of outdoor seating; it was a fun place to visit the road crews at night. A great value.

Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort, hotel in Monarch

Located in Buena Vista, in a building dating from 19th century, Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort provides a bar and guestrooms with free WiFi.

Location, facilities. Liked the room situation the living room, kitchen with full fridge, the porch with the water flowing behind it, how the bathroom had a private toilet closet, fans and a shower and tub/shower. Very nice overall though definitely a 4 star not 5 star place but seemed like best with hot springs when I researched.

American Classic Inn, hotel in Monarch

This Salida, Colorado inn is 5 miles from San Isabel National Forest. Central Colorado Regional Airport is 20 miles away. Free Wi-Fi is provided in all rooms.

Nicely renovated motel. The name 'inn' is a little misleading beceause it is a motel. Easy parking right in front of the room. Aircon works well, clean room, easy check in. Comfortable bed and good bathroom. Enough storage space and table with chairs in the room is very nice. Also the mini fridge was very nice to have. Friendly employees.

Private Retreat on Working Horse and Cattle Ranch, hotel in Monarch

Boasting quiet street views, Private Retreat on Working Horse and Cattle Ranch features accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 27 km from Monarch Mountain Ski Area.

This is an absolutely beautiful property. Gorgeously decorated, extremely comfortable furnishings, very spacious. 180 degree views of valley, mountains and sky. Very secluded and private and QUIET. We prepared all our own meals and the kitchen had everything we needed. Easy to find. Just a really lovely home. The pictures online don't even do this place justice! It's the best place I've ever stayed in Salida.

Building does not have AC or heating as your listing indicates. Shower water was cold and it never warmed up. I never thought I had to double check the room had AC. Booking.com should point out what other basic amenities a hotel like this does not have. Only 1 roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, if you don’t anticipate it could be an embarrassing moment. No manager on site. I demand reimbursement of half the room cost.

Monarch Mountain is an independent resort, not one of the "big boys". Therefore, the amenities were a bit less flashy. Ski lifts are definitely old and slow. However, this was reflected in lift ticket prices being half or less than half of the big resorts. Food prices seemed more reasonable too. It snowed the entire time we were there so the powder on the mountain was great. Not a lot of grooming on the runs, but with the powder, they really didn't need it. While not a large ski area, there was a nice variety of runs that were easy to get to. It is only a mile or two from Monarch Pass so pay attention to the weather. The road (Hwy 50) can close when conditions are bad.

The staff were excellent, the location is special and the room was large and comfortable. The dining room process was stretched and the choices were very simple; breakfast was limited and, unusually was not free. We had a car problem but the landline phone was out of service and we were unable to make the right contacts. That certainly wasn't the fault of the hotel but was a limitation for us in such a remote location.

Interior and exterior needs some serious TLC.

Interior and exterior needs some serious TLC. The back of the property is beautiful. Everything inside is old and out dated. Water pressure on room was good & beds were comfortable. This property has so much potential. It could be a gem of a hotel if it was updated even just a little bit.
