Being native Oregonians who moved to Idaho, we realize that the homeless situation isn't the responsibility of local businesses. But the situation is so bad there. There are even people loitering in the common area all day long next to your hotel. It's the only downside of visiting Oregon.

    Medford has changed drastically.

Medford has changed drastically. We used to stop there when we traveled between California and Washington at least four times a year. It is now been taken over by the homeless population the entire west side of the highway is nothing like it used to be. All of the businesses are closed down and these poor homeless people are crowded into former store fronts, parking lots and run down hotels. It is NOT the town it once was. Clearly, Medford does not have the resources available to address the homeless population and it is extremely sad to see these people suffering

The amount of U-turns one has to do in Medford is wild to me! Odd road layouts but definitely made me and my cohort laugh a lot about all the roundabouts we did. Fast/commercial dining and gas stations were close by on every corner which was easy for a traveler though I prefer some mom and pop stores and independent diners/grills/pubs but those merchants didn't pop up on my food searches until the 3rd page on my serches.

We are relocating to Oregon, and have been researching statistics as far as education, crime, etc. Medford does rank pretty high on the crime index, although during our stay it seemed fine. We have stayed in Medford 4 times and each time we have arrived too late to enjoy the city or see it. However, that is because we always break up the trip into 5-6 hour driving lengths.

Proximity To Ashland, which is a dream land in mid May, all green. Medford is wonderfully simple with 1 hour required to go through security, check bags and get to the gate. Bravo! But security kept my 2 and a half inch Swiss Army knife. I thought knives that short were allowed years ago. I have carried it through numerous security gates in the past. Put it in your checked bags. Since we had no car, we ordered a fantastic, maybe the best pizza from Abby’s who agreed to deliver. It was stacked high with spinach, artichoke hearts, black olives on a Greek pizza. The driver went out of his way to find us, as we had called our hotel the airport Marriott. He went to the wrong Medford Marriott. He brought it to our room. Katie was the nice person on the phone that kept the pizza coming to us. 3 other restaurants named by the hotel did not order .

The location was good for us because we wanted to do a morning run and the bike path next to the river can be accessed in less than 1 mile. There is a very nice Fred Meyer supermarket very close to the hotel.
