Denali Rainbow Village RV Park and Motel, hotel in McKinley Park

Denali Rainbow Village RV Park and Motel is located in McKinley Park. The hotel also provides free WiFi and free private parking.

Friendly staff picked us up at the train depot. This place is located directly behind the boardwalk shopping strip. This made it easy to shop and eat. The rooms were clean and we liked it, but not fancy - unpaved area, so a bit muddy. It was a great location to get to Denali National Park, the bus pick up, shopping and eating. So very happy.

Good service from friendly staff. At the Denali train station, the hotel driver waited for guests who might arrive by train. It was a reassuring sight as our phone calls could not get through to the hotel reception before our arrival. Hotel drivers gave good advice to us. Eg 1 upon arrival by train, the driver advised us to go to the park immediately, and not waste time going to the hotel to try to checkin early. Instead, she took our luggage to the hotel for us. Another pro tip from the driver when he learnt that we are going to take the transit bus to East Fork is that on the return trip, alight at the top of Sable pass & hike down west ward. Whenever we are tired, flag down the next bus. The views of this hike is good to die for. Cabin: basic, water for showering not hot, shower cubicle is very small, power outlets are not beside the beds.

McKinley Chalet Resort, hotel in McKinley Park

Less than 1 minutes’ drive to Denali National Park entrance, this Denali National Park resort features an on-site dinner theater and river rafting excursions.

The location of the property was pretty spectacular. Right on the fringes of Denali National Park , this lovely property had a great lobby, excellent restaurants, a comfortable room and absolutely stellar staff. We really enjoyed going down to Karstens for dinner and walking around the property. The free shuttles from the station and to Denali Park were so helpful! Emily at the reception was the most gentle, wonderful and welcoming person and really made us feel so special. Loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat! And oh, we also caught the northern lights and their alarm service was so stellar and game changing .

This place is not worth the money by a huge margin.

This place is not worth the money by a huge margin. It’s pretty bad. No Wi-Fi working, no heating that worked, no phone system that worked, soft beds, no bed side table, no bed side reading lamps, shoddy bathroom. I would not recommend it and will definitely not come back.

This is really the only area to stay in at Denali.

This is really the only area to stay in at Denali. The only other area is Healy, which is 10 miles up the road & where the locals live. Don’t know the hotel situation there; but there is a major grocery store in Healy. In McKinley Park, there are several hotels, all serviced by hotel shuttles to/from the train & into the park. These are very handy! Check their schedules though, as several DON’T pick up between 3:15-5pm from the park-they are dealing with train passengers! The “town” is very touristy; however, there are some beautiful shops there. Any activities such as rafting, ATVs, bikes have their offices here. It’s a fun spot to browse. The grocery stores are mostly grab & go and liquor. Just think through food a bit, unless you’re on a tour or staying at the Princess or Holland America hotels. Those complexes have much more. All in a a lot of fun to be had at Denali! Incredible hiking!

Absolutely beautiful! Nice property, but be willing to walk.

Absolutely beautiful! Nice property, but be willing to walk. Each building is spread out across the property. They do have a shuttle if you want to wait. Staff is amazingly helpful and very friendly. Food is mediocre. Front desk staff is very helpful with planning activities.

The park is actually called Denali Park and it is absolutely stunning. The views, wildlife and plants are totally worth it. If staying at a hotel, 3 days and 2 nights with the family was a good amount of time.

    Expansive resort with frequent shuttles.

Expansive resort with frequent shuttles. Depending on your location in the resort, very spotty wifi, which could be a concern if wifi is a priority for you. Couldn't connect in room but really not an issue for us. Great steakhouse restaurant off the main lobby. Convenient location for excursion pick up and quick shuttle ride to train station.

    The bus tour was great.

The bus tour was great. The driver stopped multiple times to get pictures of wildlife. She gave us a lot of information about the park and the wildlife that was there We enjoyed so much we plan to take a family vacation and do it again

the room was very cozy and the balcony faced the woods and a river, it was great sitting there, with some drinks, take away food and chat until late. The hotel has no restaurant, no bar. A Thai food truck is in the parking lot though and has excellent food. about 5-8 min walk is another hotel where one can go for breakfast , drinks, dinner and with complementary bus service to the park. Very convenient

It is a great hotel, the room was beautifully furnished and had a nice little balcony which was a pleasant surprise. Restaurant and cafe on site and a spacious terrace on which one can relax and enjoy wonderful views. Less than 10 minutes walk to "centre" with grocery store, souvenir shops and some restaurants. Free shuttle to the Visitor centre, which was very convenient. Staff were nice and efficient.
