Great position in Freshfields Village with its array of shops and restaurants. Not as swanky as The Sanctuary- but that is reflected in the price. Short drive to all local golf courses. Regular live foyer Jazz and some funky art

The Location and cleanliness was brilliant we also loved how quiet and peaceful it was. The bed was comfortable as were the armchairs outside and the sofa inside. A nice sixed kitchenette was helpful along with a full size fridge freezer. Don't be put off by the appearance of the outside when you pull up it is lovely once inside.

I've never felt so welcome in a hotel as I have here. All the staff here are just wonderfully helpful and dedicated to their roles. They take every request seriously and follow through. It feels more like staying with a family, honestly. Jamie and the rest of the front desk team were just awesome. I had a package delivered to the hotel and they were super cool about it. Moving rooms was also no problem.
The free shuttle service was an absolute lifesaver - dependable, on time, and quick. The drivers we had (Lamont, Nate, Ms Tara, Ms Jeanette) were amazing. They know the city well and gave us so many tips. They don't just work in Charleston, they LIVE here, so they really know what it's really like and provide a valuable perspective. I wouldn't recommend walking to downtown from the hotel as you'd need to cross a highway and along a thin sidewalk. You can definitely walk west past the Waffle House to the other stores and restaurants though.
Our booking included free breakfast so we were in the restaurant every day. Vegans: you can have the vegetable wrap without the cheese and it's delicious. The staff here - Alvaro, Joe, Mario, and JoJo - are heroes. Greeting us every day and knowing our special dietary accommodations without even asking. The team here went out of their way to make sure we were 100% satisfied. Please say hi to them, ask them how they are. This is how to get the best out of visiting a place.
Remote workers: the lobby has power points and plenty of seating. Free coffee in the morning!
The building and decor is old, but is clean and it works. It doesn't detract from the experience. Don't let this deter you from coming here!
Thank you, Holiday Inn team! You really made our trip even more special.

The island is beautiful and designed for relaxation.
The island is beautiful and designed for relaxation. We did not golf but it is big there. There are many rules on the island which my friend did not like and she thought the people were uppity. We only had bikes and you really do need a car to get groceries and in case of rain. You will get stuck there without transportation. Also since we did not have a car, I did not print the pass that was sent to us by our Airbnb host. We took a Lyft to Kiawah and had to pay a $20 entrance fee to the island. Had we taken an Uber or printed out the car pass, we could have avoided this fee. We were not told about that. Overall, I would go again and be better prepared the next time.

Such a beautiful place. Quiet and safe.
Such a beautiful place. Quiet and safe. The parks are nice and just strolling through the island is wonderful. We enjoyed the beach and going for ice-cream treats. Having a grocery store on Kiawah was super helpful.

A friend called Kiawah Island, a constructed paradise, and it is. It's a beautiful location, with verdant golf courses, roads lined with mature trees that provide an emerald canopy, and sand finer than sugar.

The beach was fantastic!
The beach was fantastic! This place is just a very short walk to the beach and no beach pass was necessary, nor was there a fee to go to the beach.
It is near a small village called Fresh Fields, which was where we ate most of our meals, because any other restaurants were far away. But there was enough variety for the three days and nights we were there. Folly Beach was fun, too, with plenty of restaurants, and a walk to the lighthouse is a must. Gorgeous beaches there, too. Three to four nights is perfect. You need a car to get around.

Beautiful place!
Beautiful place! A unique experience, being a gated, planned community with no commercial development on the island itself. A very quiet, peaceful place with lots of vegetation, great network of bike trails and beautiful beaches. You can bike on the beach which is fun, and there is almost no traffic. Shopping center just 10 minutes from the front gate with everything you need and more. Very clean and well-kept place, we spent 3 days there and I didn't see any trash on the trails or beaches. It does have a "country club" feel which took getting used to but overall we enjoyed it quite a bit.

Need to have more restaurants.
Need to have more restaurants. Restaurants that are there are over-priced. Need competition. I don't mind spending money when the food and service was good, but we often walked away feeling disappointed with both.

It was in the middle of the island close to The Sanctuary hotel, from which we hired bikes and ate at the reasonably priced Loggerhead bar. It was good having two sinks and the kitchen was well equipped apart from no tea towels or kettle. It felt very private and was nice that you could park straight outside the building. I didn’t realise it had a washing machine and tumble drier that would have used if we had been there for longer.
Beautiful boutique hotel in a great location with shopping, restaurants and trails within walking distance. Enjoyed having a cocktail at the fully stocked bar and sitting by the fire relaxing. Live Jazz on specified times were an added treat!
