Great location as it was close to many attractions, however very close to the turn pike means you heard Jake brakes often.

Went the end of September. Many of the stores were closed both Tuesday and Wednesday. Website doesn’t tell visitors this. We went to the jail on Tuesday and it was closed with the sign saying closed Wednesday. Stores that were open, many didn’t open until 11am so if you are up early walk the bike trail to kill time . Stayed in the hotel and bad experience and not worth the money. If you decide to go stay in a bed and breakfast.

I feel that there is plenty to do in Jim Thorpe, a lot of great tours and rides you can do and are affordable. The food is great there and there's a lot of great shops there. There is a music store, a book store (my personal favorites), a couple coffee shops, and alot more other kinds of stores that are great. I recommend the restaurant Myst, it has great Chinese and Japanese food and has great service as well, not too bad price wise either. I also recommend doing the train ride, trolley ride, jail tour, and Asa Packers Mansion tour. All very affordable and fun to do

Great location, only a mile walk to the train station.
Great location, only a mile walk to the train station. Quiet neighborhood. Ate at Molly McGuire's twice. Great food and reasonable prices. Especially liked breakfast at Antonio's ....Very reasonable pricing as well. Enjoyed the tour of the jail and the Mauch Chunk Museum . At both of these we were greeted by excellent tour guides. Jim Thorpe is a cozy small town with small shops that cater to the tourist. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The town is built on an incline so the walk can be challenging but all along the street are welcoming benches. My only negative comment had to do with one particular store that sold all kinds of witchcraft paraphernalia.

One of the prettiest towns in the USA.Old style shops, great places to eat and socialize, Molly Maguires stands out with awesome food and great selection of drinks. Broadway Inn takes you back to the turn of the century. Mauch Chunk Opera House has outstanding shows. SoundCheck has some good music. It would take a novel to describe all the little shops. Olde Tyme Christmas, the whole town comes alive in late December. It is a must see for anyone visiting the coal regions. Parking is the only problem due to the number of tourists this beautiful town attracts.

A great destination for people who love recreation in nature. Biking, whitewater rafting, hiking or just enjoying an environment with mountains, streams, and lakes, Jim Thorpe and the nearby counties have so much to offer.
Accommodations are limited though, and for comfort you will have to pay a bit more. The ancient motels of yesteryear are not well located and noisy. Plan in advance.

Avoid on weekend! What a zoo on Saturday.
Avoid on weekend! What a zoo on Saturday. Traffic backed up 0.4 mile at the light coming into town. Tourists everywhere. Forget parking anywhere close to where you want to be. If hanging out with folks from Jersey and New York in a crowded little town is your thing, have at it.
Everything! An incredibly well-preserved millionaire mansion smack dab in the middle of Jim Thorpe’s historic downtown district. Michael and Jeffri are masters of their craft and they make it a complete experience from start to finish.
