The Nomad Motel - International Falls, MN - Near Canadian Border, hotel in International Falls

The Nomad Motel - International Falls, MN - Near Canadian Border provides accommodations in International Falls. This 2-star hotel offers a 24-hour front desk.

This appears to be the classic mid-century motel that has been very nicely updated and modernized. Very comfortable and quiet. The check in is via a coded lock box in the lobby that releases a genuine classic-style key with a big old key fob. Bonus, there is a nice diner right across the street that opens early and a good value.

Falls Motel, hotel in International Falls

Falls Motel provides accommodations in International Falls. The motel has city views, a grill, and free WiFi is available.

We like these motels where you drive up to your door. This one was even old school in that they gave you an actual key to your room! This was a nice clean room. The staff was great for check in. We had a microwave and fridge. They gave out bags of ice instead of having an ice machine. The beds were ok for comfort. A little firm for us but we like very soft beds. Only offered coffee and muffins for breakfast so we just went down the street to a restaurant. The one feature we liked....our tub was lavender colored!

Cantilever Hotel, Trademark Collection by Wyndham, hotel in International Falls

Located in Ranier, Cantilever Hotel, Trademark Collection by Wyndham offers 3-star accommodations with a bar.

No breakfast available except for old bagels, always out of dinner items. Rooms were not normal. Service terrible, not a friendly place. Terrible value for the money. No one told me about the train tracks behind hotel and construction noise til darkness. Road construction downtown.

We only spent the one night in Intl Falls, on our way to a Houseboat vacation on Rainy Lake. We were able to spend sometime in the city the night before. Had dinner and drinks. We will be back again.

It was a closing chapter of my childhood so it was bittersweet. My mother is from the Falls and all of her family plus my grandma lived there. I spend almost every summer there. We would go from the Falls to Thunder Bay, Ontario to my other aunt's and family. My cousin's attended school there so we went to hockey games...The pep band Dirty Dozen...Bronco's everything. Alot of my mom's family worked at the mill...we had friend's in Fort Frances. Used to swim at the City Beach by Ranier...I don't know that we'll get back as most relatives are gone. With the border closed I couldn't stock up on my MacIntosh toffee. But the Coffee Landing was fabulous.

We stayed at the Lodge as it was the closest we could get to Lake Kabetogama and Voyager Park. We had a wonderful time boating, fishing and hiking and had some great food at Arrowhead Lodge. We hiked Ellsworth Rock which was quite incredible. International Falls doesn't have much there. There is the border crossing, which of course is closed to us regular folk, a few restaurants and a wonderful grocery store. We had a wonderful time doing what we went to do and meeting new people.

If you are not too much into fishing and water related activities then 2 nights should be good. Do the Sunset boat tour with Captain Bill for a memorable experience. The Trails from Rainy Lake visitor centre and Ash Lake are good .

We really found the motel and the town just great.

We really found the motel and the town just great. WE have flown into International Falls for about 20 year now and did not find anything worth staying in as a motel/hotel. We wend through customs and straight to Canada. Since we could not go into Canada due to Corvid we found Nomad and loved it.

There is not a lot to do in International Falls when Canada is closed. We encountered a lot of racism, as we are a mixed race couple, from many locals who continuously looked at us like we were committing crime. The area near the boarder was not nearly as bad as Rainier (where everything that was fun happened to be). I would only go back when the boarder is open because otherwise you are stuck with not much to do. We ended up leaving 3 days early because we were so uncomfortable in the town.

They did a wonderful job of remodeling and repurposing a classic old 40s or 50s motel. The owners have put this great old building back into use for many years. Fun place to stay and the room was very clean. A very nice alternative to the chain motels. I was there for several nights and enjoyed my stay. I would definitely stay there again.
