After a long day of working at a wedding event, I was absolutely delighted when I walked into cabin number six! It felt like a hug 🤗 I could not have decorated it in a more charming way if I tried, every detail of the room was handpicked for comfort and charm! I would come back to Highlands just to stay at this place with my husband next time!

The facility is newly renovated, very nicely done. Our room was clean, spacious, had a fireplace, and even a private patio. The location could not be any better.

Location was very close to downtown just a few minute drive as Franklin turns into Main street. We did not go to the Verandah restaurant but thought that was nice to have so close. House was clean and beds comfortable.

Have been to Highlands 6 X and every time it’s gotten stiffer than before. The Main St restaurants are nearly all dress up w linen, except for the sports bar, Ugly Dog,’ which is great. Try the other Mt towns …much more real people like.

Highlands is a nice up-scale small town in the mountains of southern North Carolina. It's a very laid back, quiet place to relax and have a good time, with excellent restaurants and wineries. Paoletti's Ristorante and the Old Edwards Inn wine garden are fabulous. High Country Wine and Provisions, owned by Sonoma Valley Davis Family Vineyards, is worth a visit, with wine tastings, etc.

Public bathroom needs to have better attention & be checked more often. Some shop owners are friendlier than others & they make you feel unwelcome in their shops. Most of the shops are welcoming though. Restaurants in the city itself are ok. Over priced & not top notch. However, there are wonderful restaurants right outside of the city that are wonderful & food is exceptional (The Lakeside Restaurant.

Long waits for lunch in restaurants.

Long waits for lunch in restaurants. We had a very bad experience at Meritage Bistro. The owner and manager were extremely rude to one of our group who ordered crab cakes that turned out to be too spicy to eat. Worst treatment I have ever seen in a restaurant. Will never go there again!

    Too crowded in July.

Too crowded in July. We had a fantastic dinner at Lakeside Restaurant, an excellent lunch at Mountain Fresh Grocery and a great breakfast at the BlackBear Breakfast & Lunch which is new in town. Their food and service is superb. Next visit we will come early in the Spring or in the Fall when it isn't quite as crowded, but being crowded is a good problem for Highlands to have. :)

The location was about 4 miles out of town, on a gorgeous scenic road. The suite was perfect for my needs with a functional kitchenette, great shower in the bath, plenty of closet space, comfortable beds, seating, and desk area. The tv is huge. The mountain views are spectacular, and there is a gazebo with swing to enjoy them. The host was very helpful and friendly. Great place to stay.
