Breakfast was lackluster. Otherwise, the stay went fine. It's a good location for antiques and thrifting.

Love being in or near the mountains....Gods country !
Love being in or near the mountains....Gods country ! Hannah Flannagans Irish Pub is my favorite restaurant anywhere....$ very reasonable and great food...( I have tried almost entree on the menu from Irish stew, fish and chips...key lime pie....in Hendersonville historic downtown. Oh, and you can't forget Hot Dog World ! I only get the kraut dog (closed Sunday...cash or check only) . Hville is a short distance from Carl Sandberg's home place...the goats are still farmed and you can tour the house ($) and grounds. "The quiet hush". ...also near dog park in Mills River on 191. 191 zig-zags West and is 20 minutes or so from BRP...by the Arboretum...several miles farther down on 191 is a huge show outlet...not cheap but some European shoes too...wide variety. ...few miles more is big outlet

Great place to stay while leaf-peeping in the fall.
Great place to stay while leaf-peeping in the fall. It's close to a lot of scenery. Recommend Jump-off Rock and Rhododendrum Park for strolling in Hendersonville itself. Several apple orchards with you-pick times. We tried some apples from Justus Orchards and they were very tasty. The North Carolina Arboretum is well worth a visit, including the quilt garden and the bonsai exhibition in the back. Don't leave without seeing that! We have enjoyed lunch at their Cafe several times. The gardens at the Biltmore are also very well done in the fall (as well as the spring.) And, of course, driving the Blue Ridge Parkway is a great way to see fall foliage! We started at the Folk Art Center, which is fascinating. Mount Mitchell's observation deck has wonderful views and there is a .75 mile nature trail that is also worth doing. Finally, lots of families go to Dupont State Park to see the three waterfalls (hooker falls, high falls, and triple falls). Recommend getting there early because parking lots fill up fast! Basically, that was our trip in a nutshell and we will be back!

Likes:
1) Very cool downtown! Nicely landscaped and decor, great restaurants, cozy, nice vibe.
2) Enough good services around downtown: fuel, motel, shopping, groceries.
3) No free street-side parking downtown, but there are parking lots around (unsure whether they're free). However, on parallel streets a block away there was free street-side parking.
4) Tourist info center very helpful with directions, maps and suggestions
5) Great restaurants we ate at: Umi Japanese, Mezzaluna, Indian Aroma Bistro, Champa Thai
6) Jackson Park was great. Stuff for sports and nature lovers both.
Not so good:
1) Tricky to find ways out of downtown area to major roads leading out of Hendersonville
2) Some unexpected road closures due to road repair, electrical line repair, etc.

Beautiful town!
Beautiful town! Nice mix of galleries, funky shops and cool eateries!! Definitely make the 30 minute trip to Chimney Rock Mountain!! Another super cute town to eat lunch while river-side. Do the river walk path and get your feet in the water! It’s lovely! The views from the top of Chimney Rock are just stunning!! Take the elevator if you’re allergic to stairs!! Cute little snack shack at the top serving some really great sandwiches! The Turkey with pesto was so wonderful on the bridge, overlooking the gorgeous vistas!! Great trip!

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Hendersonville
Helpful and friendly staff, the room appeared to have been remodeled semi recently, not a terrible value for the stay compared to some of the other hotels in the area (which I had friends at and they said surrounding hotels were also rundown and not great), my room was as far back as you could be so it was pretty quiet aside from noise from neighboring rooms
Although the hotel looks kind of old from the outside, the room was very clean, big, with ceramic floor and laminated floor. There is no carpet so it smells good. I was positively surprised.
I will go back again
