Hardin is close to the Battle of the Little Big Horn, we needed a place to stay and extra day . Once we checked out of Super 8 which was nasty we found a great little mom and pop place called The Lariat. Rooms were big and spacious and the price was right. There is also a great spot to eat dinner called The Outlaw.

There just were very few choices of places to stay in order to visit Little Big Horn Battlefield National Monument, so this location was good for visiting this site. However, the place is badly in need of renovation. There is only a tiny ice machine that was not working. The room door had the weather stripping coming off the door. THERE WAS NO HOT WATER AT ALL. The coat hangers would not stay on the rack because the plastic casing that was supposed to hold the metal rods were splayed out and the hangers kept dropping. Nonetheless, the front desk staff were kind and friendly; just ineffective in correcting the water problem. Very limited restaurants nearby; only McD's for fast food, too.

The hotel is decent for the price.
The hotel is decent for the price. Seems newer than we remember for Hardin. The TV channels would not change is the only bad thing we experienced.
The town is close to the Little Bighorn Battle Memorial site, which was a big part of our reason for stopping in Hardin.

Hardin is not a destination town.
Hardin is not a destination town. It is the type of town you stop in to eat, spend the night or just drive through. We went to the older side of town to a little restaurant that had an attached casino room. I forget the name but something like The 3 guys restaurant/casino. It is in a depressed area of town much like the rest of Hardin. The strange thing is when we looked up places to eat it showed a picture of a meal with chicken breasts, mashed potatoes, and asparagus all drizzled with a brown sauce. Looked delicious. We get there and there is nothing on the menu that resembles that meal in any shape or form. The meal looked liked something you would get at a fine dining restaurant. Their menu had french fries. sandwiches, burgers and a couple of dinner type meals. Ordered macaroni and cheese with a couple of mushrooms and chicken in it that came in a cup like a small portion of soup comes in. $13.00! Surprised at the cost considering the location. Anyways just spent the night in Hardin as we were on our way to S. Dakota. This was our experience there.
