The location is great. It’s a beautiful place. We had everything we could possibly need. Very clean. I love the artwork. It was so cold outside during our stay, so we spent more time than anticipated inside and it was cozy and warm.
Galena is definitely the town the world left behind.
Galena is definitely the town the world left behind. So beautiful, simple great historical structures, good places to eat and shop. Strolling along Main St Galena takes you back in time, definitely a must see. Illinois is a beautiful state.

Cute town with shops and places to eat (very limited if you want pet-friendly). Nice visit to Galena Cellars winery and sat out in grassy area with live music. Been here several times before, always enjoy coming back for a visit.

We didn't do the town this trip.
We didn't do the town this trip. Grandkids aren't into history and shops just yet. Our other visits were very peaceful and we could take our time experiencing the shops and history of the area, as well as nearby Dubuque, IA.

Galena has a very rich history.
Galena has a very rich history. A simple way to enhance your learning is to take the Trolley Tour. Then go to the many shops. One quality shop is Union Leather. Prices are well below what you see in retail! The quality of their merchandise is way above what you would expect for the price. Another gem is Poopsies. Great selection of gifts from the educational to the farcical. Hard to believe for a tourist location. The restaurants are a treat from the Galena Wine Gallery which has really good food and wines to the Log Cabin for a meal you won't forget. If you like Italian the Viny Vanuchi (sp) is a couple flights up but top notch Italian. Dirty Gertz on the farther north end of main is a good lunch spot. Do not forget the popcorn shop! Their fudge is the best! Be sure to go to Grant's home to take the tour.. more history. To cover what Galena has to offer would take a book. You will find that book free in many locations.

Galena is a charming town.
Galena is a charming town. We were only passing through so spent just one night. Be sure to take time to visit the historic downtown area with many restaurants and shops. Ulysses Grant home was lovely to visit. Blaum Bros Distillery has a nice bar but mediocre tour of the small distillery area. Our guide was terrific though. Stayed at the Irish Cottage Inn and Suites. Suited all our needs for the night.

we love all the cute shops and the restaurants in the area, the people are very friendly, the town itself is so neat to visit, lots to do from shopping, and dining to just taking a ride around town seeing all the old buildings will be back again.
Wi-fi was bad in my room and I really needed internet to continue my trip. I got switched to a new room with better reception without any issues. Got resolved easily. Very friendly personnel.
Hotel is clean. Great and expansive breakfast. Hotel looks really nice, great theme. Location is excellent, close to Galena’s historic downtown. Free and ample parking space. Overall, excellent place to stay and most certainly would recommend.
The house was beautiful, just a short drive from Galena. All the rooms are individual with a great view. Good beds. The hosts Cass and Steve are always there to answer any questions and create a nice atmosphere, specially at the big breakfast table. .The breakfast was delicious, we loved the cinnamon roll french toast. we had an overall great stay.
Such a unique experience! So special to stay in a piece of American history. The room was gorgeous, our host Paulina was super helpful…and the town of Galena was magical!
The hotel was incredibly clean. There was plenty of privacy. We heard no noise from the other rooms or hallways. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
