Beautiful historic Germantown. If you like wine, this is the place to be in Texas. The food and souvenir prices were extremely pricey. But everything else was well worth it. There’s a lot of parking on the downtown Main Street and I did not have a problem finding a parking space at any time during the two days I was there. The main street is the only shopping area.

Fredericksburg is rich with both history and the relatively new, bustling wine industry now offering over 400 wineries within a 20 mile radius of downtown. The National Museum of the Pacific War is amazing and requires at least a full day to see. The Pioneer Museum is full of facts and insight to the settlement of the area in the 19th century. We had excellent German cuisine at both Auslander and Altdorf's restaurants.

Magnificent German town in Hill Country of central Texas.
Magnificent German town in Hill Country of central Texas. Tons of old buildings from the late 19th Century. Modern or renovated older accomadations priced appropriately. Older, well-established bars, restaurants and eateries serving authentic German cuisine and a plethora of foods from around the world. There are a few live music venues and museums. This is the home of the National Museum of The Pacific War and the hometown of Fleet Admiral Chester W Nimitz, Chief of Naval Operations, Pacific Ocean in WWII.

The live music options were great, as were the people of the town. For live music the Luckenbach in Fredericksburg was the best! Don't underestimate the main strip, we took two days to complete all the shops and treats on the main strip and don't forget the wine - so many Vinyards! (If you are looking for fresh peaches - the season is Mid-May to Mid-August) sadly we found out the hard way.
Shops close early (5pm) and we were unaware that many shops are closed on Sunday. Great place for bridal and wedding parties!

If your plans include heavy drinking with great food then you’re in the right spot. Shopping is knicknack items and expensive clothing. Prepare for a long walk and waiting to eat for at least an hour at all restaurants.

Everything was wonderful! From the initial check-in with the front desk to the check-out process, we had a wonderful time. The very kind lady at the front desk gave us great information and made things very smooth for check-in. Our room was adorable and was very clean. The bed was comfortable and we slept so great after a long day of hiking Enchanted Rock. If you are thinking about booking, this is a heck yes!!!
the location, amenities, free parking and general experience at the hotel was fantastic. However, upon getting ready to go out in the morning we discovered a cockroach in our room under the bed. This made us question the cleanliness of the hotel and put a damper on the experience.
It was an excellent value for the money. Very nice rooms! Friendly staff! Clean and comfortable. A short drive to downtown. Older property, but renovated and nicely maintained.
