We were on way back from North Woods Wisconsin trip and were planning visit to Great Grandparents gravesite next morning in Rockwell City. Hotel worked out perfect for this purpose for myself and sister in our 60's. Pool room spa was plus at perfect temp. Too many are kept too cold to be a benefit. Beautiful well kept pool room. Bathtub was wide and comfortable. Town was quiet and peaceful on a Saturday night.

Fort Dodge isn't really a destination city, but if you are staying here, there are some nice places to eat. The mall is under construction, so shopping is limited compared to usual. There is a nice place for family fun called Fort Frenzy and if you are here in the summer there is a nice place for swimming called Rosedale Rapids Aquatic Center.

The person that was assigned to clean our room did not.
The person that was assigned to clean our room did not. The sheets were dirty and the bathroom floor was dirty.
However, the one only person working this time of night was the management at the desk. She changed our sheets and apologized and also was able to take some of our bill. She handled it very nicely.
Nothing at all, the place was really far from stores or any malls and the place was definitely secluded. You would have to travel far from the hotel to reach the markets! The place was dirty and so small. The front desk and manager or whoever she was taking charge was absolutely disgusting with her attitude. Would never recommend this place!
The restaurant is nothing short of fantastic the hotel is in the process of being remodeled and it will be very nice when it's completed. It was built in the days before elevators were common so if you need a first floor room ask for it. Staff is very friendly and I would not hesitate to stay there again.
We had to stay one night because we couldn't get a transfer to Ames (after the arrival of our flight in the afternoon to the Fort Dodge airport). While the facilities were not bad, the price is excessive for what the hotel and the place have to offer.
