The AVS is what we all imagine a ski village lodge to look and feel like. Funky logistics to get around, but total alpine feel. Room was perfect for me and my kid. Bed was very comfortable with 4 pillows, kid stayed in the loft/mezzanine accessible by ladder - her "crib". Nice bathroom. Heater worked fine. Full mini-kitchen so we made b-fast every morning. Very clean, comfortable. Fantastic location right next to Lift 1 (main base) - we skied 4-5 hours a day. Walking distance to all restaurants. Friendly staff. And, before I forget, a wonderful jacuzzi (fits 7) and sauna that I used every night to sooth my knees.

A nicely appointed cabin, with one bedroom and a big living room/kitchen area. Clean and comfy. Staff communication was smooth.
Well it is a quiet little town that's for sure. Spectacular views! But there's hardly a place to eat dinner except towards the weekend when most of the handful of restaurants are open. We found that very disappointing. We ate at a Thai restaurant which I can only say was mediocre but it was the ONLY place open without driving to Angel Fire.

The trip was wonderful.
The trip was wonderful. Snow on the mountains and the lake was frozen. It was really a wonderful place. We ate in Red River because we were unsure of places to eat, but it wasn't an issue. We love Red River as well. Getting around is extremely easy. I wouldn't avoid a thing.

It was good to be near so many other communities like Red River and Cimarron. Eagle Nest has wonderful people who are helpful. The view of the Rocky Mountains is awesome! We found beautiful areas to hike around Eagle Nest and in the other communities. Hiking was comfortable and accessible. Getting around the area is not hard, very easy.
