A step back in time... so charming!!! Forget the casino hotels, this is the real Cripple Creek-thing... Even the creaking wooden floors are an attraction not to be missed.

If you want to stay in a neat little mountain town and go to...

If you want to stay in a neat little mountain town and go to the casinos, this IS the place! There are a couple of very nice hotels and some great dining options. We saw a play at the local theater company and LOVED it! Friday and Saturday were bustling! But things died significantly on Sunday night. The mine tour was very interesting but we did not ride the train. For us personally, a couple of days here was sufficient but we aren't gamblers. If you simply want a quaint place to stay and gamble, this town is WONDERFUL!

it is a mining town. Historically and currently.

it is a mining town. Historically and currently. Ranging from the deep shaft mines to current operating open pit mining. An very active mining district explanning for several miles. The deep shaft mines and the current open pit mining operations are a testament to the town’s enduring connection to the mining sector. allow visitors to get a glimpse into the mining processes and history. The Cripple Creek Heritage Center museum a must-visit for anyone interested in the history and culture of the area. It’s wonderful that the district extends for several miles, providing plenty of exploration opportunities, including the nearby towns of Victor and Goldfield. These places offer a unique window into the past and present of mining in Colorado. If you’re planning a visit or looking to learn more about the area, these tours and the museum would indeed be worthwhile experiences. Enjoy your journey through the rich tapestry of Cripple Creek’s mining heritage! 🏔️⛏️

Nice little town nestled in the mountains.

Nice little town nestled in the mountains. This day we visited, the town was having their 26th annual ice parade. We had to leave early to catch the flight but the artists were chipping away at blocks of ice.

    Not many great food options.

Not many great food options. Ice castle was cool, Chamonix the new casino and hotel is really nice! Wish I would have stayed there! Very light and welcoming. Ice festival was cool, more venders would be a bonus. It’s all about gambling… not much else to do though. Great views!

This area is so beautiful and full of rich history!

This area is so beautiful and full of rich history! Charming small town that tells a million stories. And something new to see and learn every visit. The locals are delightful and always engaging in friendly conversation. We stayed at Century casino for our short stay. Friendly staff. Good food. And great location. We enjoyed the Ice Castles exhibit while in town. Toured the Cultural Center which is a must see. What an incredibly well done museum. So much to learn and it’s free! Then toured the Outlaws jail. Also a must see and so much history. Be sure to chat with Michele and pick up food for the donkeys! Feeding the donkeys was our last stop before heading back to Denver and what a unique treat! They were in their winter pens but so excited to see visitors. And they’re so adorable! We enjoyed blue skies after a beautiful snow storm so we were able enjoy the best of both this winter visit. We always enjoy our time and will definitely be back!

we’ve lived not far from Cripple Creek most of our lives.

we’ve lived not far from Cripple Creek most of our lives. We enjoyed it when it was a quiet place with only one grocery store and my husband rode his bike up Bennet avenue as a child. This time of year, gambling is about all you can do and we aren’t big on gambling, but did enjoy the ice castles. We were lied to about our booking at the Golden Nugget, we were rudely told our confirmation was their business office by an extremely rude front desk and had to spend the night at the Golden King….NEVER GO THERE!! We had a hamburger at Woodys Sports bar….dont do that either. Weather in the summer is glorious and the views are amazing. Winter can be a little challenging. Mine tours are fun, the museum was fun.
