The Inn at Montchanin Village is a tranquil, well-appointed place to stay. I was very comfortable in a suite that provided a very large studio apartment (Henry Dupont) comprising a bed-sitting room with a grand fireplace, kitchen-counter, and a huge bathroom. The Inn provided comfortable and peaceful self-catering accommodation. The welcome was friendly and genuine, and all my needs were met with kindness and helpfulness by the staff at the Reception Desk. I did not request, nor did I need any housekeeping services during my stay over five days. The Spa at the Inn looked well-appointed in passing, but I did not have an opportunity to use this facility.
The Krazy Kat’s restaurant, dating from the 1950s, is open for dinner service during the week and brunch and dinner service on Sundays. The hotel reception has a plentiful availability of tea and coffee for guests on a self-service basis and can recommend several catering services to deliver food to the Reception Desk. As I was an overseas visitor without access to a car, I found the absence of breakfast service at the Inn inconvenient. Janssen’s Market, just over a mile from the hotel was accessible using the transport services of Lyft or Uber and provided a good place to eat and to purchase groceries. Normally I would have walked such a short distance but the country roads with neither sidewalk (pavement) nor verge seemed an unnecessary risk to hazard.
The Inn at Montchanin Village and Spa is an ideal location for a tranquil stay and had I but known in advance that the accommodation is self-catering, I would have arrived better prepared to enjoy the quietness and excellent friendly service at this hidden gem.

Breakfast had limited options, but was sufficient and taste was decent. Location ok, there are shopping centers close by that have some restaurants and shops. Everything closes pretty early in the area. Room decent.

We went to Chadds Ford to see the lights at Longwood Garden.
We went to Chadds Ford to see the lights at Longwood Garden. I've been in the area another time for a weekend with a friend. There are many things to do in the area such as wineries, battlefields, breweries, mushroom farms (I took a free cooking class), and museums. Kennett Square is just down the road and is a cute town with many shops and places to eat and drink. It's the same in West Chester—just a short ride to a charming town with a lot to offer.

This is a lovely little gem of a hotel that meets the criteria for comfort, cleanliness, and affordability. Don't expect a super modern ($$$) facility, rather a comfortable facility with a lot of charm. The continental breakfast was good, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful (Truly superb restaurant just a short walk away - no sacrificing quality for convenience!) Easy check-in and express check-out as well! A real find!

The ambiance was good.
The ambiance was good. Their vending machine was not working. They sell wine by the bottle. They only had warm cans of 1 type of soda pop. No snacks. Breakfast was standard with make it yourself waffles. Parking was free but on the weekend there was no room in the hotel parking lot. I was told I would not be towed if I parked next door despite signs saying otherwise. I got up early to move my car. Their is a nice coffeehouse next door. There are some very nice outdoor spaces. Location is great for Longwood Gardens and Nemours Estate was a short drive. Staff was pleasant. This was a Christmas /Happy 21st Birthday trip with my daughter. She has anxiety but felt safe and was pleased with the cleanliness. Overall she rated the place about average for price paid. Pictures are of the area next door.

So clean, lovely room and the lobby was so nice with the fire going.
Ate next door at Brandywine Prime for a spectacular dinner despite having to eat on the enclosed/heated porch, see photos.
Winterthur Museum & Gardens was wonderful, see photos.
The location of the hotel is conveniently close to the main attractions of the area, however, it is not located directly on the very busy road. When you have a room at the back of the building, it's quiet and private. The lobby and the breakfast room are welcoming and nicely decorated with fresh flowers and a personal touch. Our room was spacious and equipped with a large refrigerator, enough lamps and very comfy beds. Breakfast was included in our very good room rate. The fresh fruit at the breakfast buffet was excellent.
The beds were very comfortable. The whole hotel was nice. It has a cosy entrance with a chimney and a little desk with a computer. Feels a little bit like in a living room in a holiday home.
Specially Troy was very kind and friendly. He answered all our questions and offered us to stay longer if we need more time. I was very surprised of the breakfast which wasn’t mentioned on the website. Very tasty and a mix of different offers.
I can really recommend this Hotel.
Brandywine River Hotel was a great find. We celebrated West Chester University graduation for my son and found the hotel to be a convenient location to the college. ( About 15 minutes) We utilized the nice room downstairs for family to grab a bite and relax before heading to graduation. The rooms were nice and big and very clean. The breakfast was good and held in a bright breakfast room. The lobby was very nice, too. I would highly recommend this hotel.
The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The facilities were clean and lovely. The room was very comfortable and clean. The continental breakfast was fresh and varied.
The location was great for easy access to museums, wineries and restaurants.
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel for anyone visiting the area.
The location of the hotel was excellent. It's off of route 1 in a quiet area. We were in Chadds Ford for the reenactment of the Battle of Brandywine. The battlefield was a short drive away. It was an easy walk to two excellent restaurants and a short drive to other restaurants and antique shops.
