The location is great, in the heart of downtown, 7min walk to the beach. There is a free small private parking lot across street for the overnight guest. We arrive just after check-in time, so find a parking spot. Not sure whether there would be spot if arrive late at night. You can tell from the amenity that the hotel is pretty old. There is no elevator, but the front desk offer service to carry the luggage to the room. The room is small and beautiful, the bed is cozy.

We're adn older couple F 59 M 68. We grabbed an early dinner at Treehouse Cafe on San Carlos St. Food was very good, nice place to eat with our pup. He even had his own burger patty! Getting around was easy. We lucked out with street parking on Ocean. After dinner we retired back at our room for the night, watching holiday movies.

There is not enough light on the sidewalks at night from street lights. The sidewalks are old, of different materials, have openings for trees, and are uneven. It is difficult to navigate, especially when it’s crowded, and especially at night when you can’t see the uneven surfaces because of the lack of illumination. We brought mini flashlights to light our path when we went off the main street. The Christmas lights and decorations are beautiful, making Carmel a very festive place to come during the holidays. The architecture of the buildings is one-of-a-kind, charming and interesting.

Its one of our favorite towns in CA.

Its one of our favorite towns in CA. We go annually, typically to AT&T but decided to go on a quite Tues-Fri in December. The town was pretty quiet, but it was actually nice --- easy to get reservations and stroll around town. The Pocket , La Bicyclette and Basil restaurants were fantastic. *if you want a true Italian experience you must go to Basil -- we felt like we were back in Italy and loved the food and conversation. Point Lobos is another must go --- hike around ... you won't regrete it! unbelievable beauty

Beautiful and easy to walk ! Restaurants wonderful! Little walkways all over leading to gardens and shops! Close to Carmel Beach. The cottages are wonderful and many beautiful older hotels! Parking is a problem!!! 2hours and you have to move your car. After 5pm it can stay all night but you have to move it in the morning!

Carmel by the Sea is a very pretty little town.

Carmel by the Sea is a very pretty little town. Feels like you in Europe. We were centrally located and could walk everywhere. There are art galleries, little gift shops, expensive shops, sweet shops, something for everyone. They all look similar which gives the town so much character. Town is clean, we took a drive to Pebble beach golf resort which is amazing to see if you a golfer. We also did the 19mile drive around the beach which was very pretty. I definitely recommend this as a stop if you driving down the Westcoast, California.

It was very close to town and we really enjoyed that it was an indepentently owned hotel. The room was spacious and there was a little cute courtyard with a table (it seemed it was primarily for use for the rooms directly off the courtyard, but we sat there anyway!). The fireplace warmed the place right up. It also made a big difference traveling as a family to have 1.5 bathrooms in our room. The hotel itself is a great value for the Carmel area. We would stay there again.

A relaxed friendly hotel with welcoming staff in an excellent position in Carmel. Our room had a large balcony looking towards the sea which was lovely for catching the early evening sun. Very good value for a hotel with swimming pool in this central but quiet position in Carmel.

Location was fantastic - staff were really friendly. We’ve been to Carmel numerous times and stayed in other hotels but this one has been the best so far. Location wise it was superb. Easily walkable to the beach and close to all the shops and restaurants. Highly recommend!

It was very quirky and close to the beach and Carmel centre. It was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed.
