Not the recreational capital of the state, but relaxing and convenient. Several good restaurants but be aware they close early. Cattle Exchange closes at 9 pm. The steaks are terrific. For basic traditional southern fare go to the Canadian Restaurant. Very nice staff, good food, reasonable prices, open seven days a week but closes at 8 pm during the week and at 2 in the afternoon on weekends. You can get around town easily on foot, Old style movie theatre (one screen) open on weekends. Good place to just relax, but county very rural and not a lot to do.

I was reared in the area and had never been to Canadian.

I was reared in the area and had never been to Canadian. I travelled 500 plus miles by car to get there. It was a trip down memory lane and it meant much to me. The town is lovely, the history is rich. I did not go with great expectations--was only seeking a lovely peaceful trip and indeed it was. People travel for different reasons, and when I travel I try to go with the spirit of joy and fun and try not to criticize. The trip becomes a joyful memory to me and I can recall easily and revisit the situation in my mind.
