Black Mountain is like a magical little town that if filled with great shops filled with the wares of local artisans (various prints, pottery, jewelry, clothing, baked goods, etc.) and the book store at the bottom of the hill on the corner of Cherry Street is what every bookstore should be! The children's section is amazing, the local author section is revealing, and the assortment of other books and assorted giftware, coffees, and all is so tempting! I could have stayed there much longer as well! Some of the shops are not open every day (which I understand) but it does make it difficult for those who are only there for a limited time over the weekend. So check out times when planning a trip in case there's some place you really want to eat or shop to ensure they are in fact going to be open. Great ice cream at The Hop. My Father's Pizza, Veranda Cafe, and Cousins Cuban Cafe were amazing! Places to avoid (just kidding, sorta) is Hey Hey Cupcake (OMG the cupcakes!), The Hop (ice cream) and Kilwin's (CHOCOLATE!). Like I said, places to avoid...if only I had! :-) Enjoy the stroll up and down the streets, make sure to go into the shops and shop!, sit in the rocking chairs outside the shops and eat a bite or two of the treats you decide to indulge in and just breathe and enjoy the weather, the people, the pets, and time spent with those you love best and most!

Black Mountain is a beautiful small town with lots of small stores, restaurants and eateries, gorgeous hiking trails for all levels of fitness - we loved it.
Taco Billy's serves yummy breakfast tacos, with vegetarian options. The Veranda serves delicious sandwiches, My Father's Pizza makes great Pizzas. I didn't enjoy the food at "Trailhead" (I had the trout filet. the fish was tasty and fresh, everything else served with it was "meh").

A beautiful, quaint, artsy little town with a super little downtown area to wander and explore. Great restaurants and gift shops. If you're not used to driving on treacherous mountain roads just take it slow and easy, and enjoy the gorgeous scenery. Go into town, park the car and let your feet wander around to all there is to offer. My husband's only disappointment was that we didn't see any bears, lol!

Our stay here was wonderful.
Our stay here was wonderful. The hotel was clean everywhere and beautifully furnished. The view from our room was spectacular. The bed was comfortable with different thicknesses of pillows ( Me- puffy, my husband- not as fluffy) The shampoo and conditioner were very nice. I liked everything about our stay. Only one small thing, the hot water pot tasted like coffee.

A fabulous little town and a great place to get some head space. Lots of art and craft shops, plenty of places to eat. However, if you are looking for something simple, I struggled to find such. Lots of places of interest in or around the area. It is all very clean, no litter, and the locals clearly take a good deal of pride in their town. Everybody seemed very friendly, nobody was trying to hurry you. Crossing the roads can sometimes be a bit of a gamble, so keep your wits about you. I would recommend taking a walk to the nearby Tomahawk Lake. The houses on the roads leading to it are magnificent, as are those surrounding the lake itself.

Check in was quick and efficient. Staff happy to engage if you want a small conversation. Staff very pleasant. Room clean and tidy. Hotel is located at one end of Black Mountain, but within easy walking distance. Bed was comfortable. Tub was of a size that you could soak (important to us Brits!) Dollar General nearby for things you may have forgotten. Microwave and fridge all working. In the main, quiet, not paper thin walls.

The rooms were comfortable and clean and very modern. Wonderful breakfast with fresh fruit every morning. Loved the fact we were able to walk into town. All staff were very friendly and kept the hotel running like clockwork. Views from room were amazing.
