Best place to stay in Avalon! It is in the best location kind of the middle of the town so, you have walking distance access to everything. Plus, they have bikes, beach chairs, towels and umbrellas you can use for free during your stay. The bed is insanely comfortable as well! We had our 6 month old and we used their pack and play which was very helpful. Staff is very kind. Thank you to Max!

Hotel Metropole was a perfect location.

Hotel Metropole was a perfect location. We enjoyed renting a golf cart and touring the island. The theatre is also worth seeing a the walk to it is beautiful. The staff at Descanso beach treated us poorly and would not allow my 78 yr old mother to sit down anywhere.

Avalon is an amazing town, the hotel we stayed at however was super run down. Not sure why people can’t use paint tk make something look more appealing to the eye. I felt I didn’t want to seat in the sofa and furniture we had . Everything looked so old and dingy that took away of my enjoyment of the city. LOVE AVALON otherwise . We spent it on a friends boat and went to the private beaches around it! Snorkeling, boat fishing were a plus .

Avalon is just as fun now to visit as it was when I was a kid. It's an easily walkable town with plenty to do (and plenty to take your money). Try to avoid Tuesdays and Wednesdays when the cruise ships are in port. Their crowds kind of ruin the town's ambiance. While visiting, I recommend snorkeling in Lover's Cove, taking the boat to Two Harbors for a day trip and more snorkeling, taking the behind the scenes Casino tour, and walking the town at dusk. Eat at the M restaurant - the best restaurant in Avalon. If you're vegan like us, there are few choices, but M does a great job with their vegan options. We rented snorkel gear at the dive shop at the Casino, and that was a good choice. They were very reasonable and helpful.

Avalon is a lovely picturesque touristy town! Very pedestrian friendly...Very few cars...lots of golf carts! At every angle there is a picture waiting to be taken!!!! Take the tour of the hills with Catalina Adventures, play miniature golf, go to the museum and casino...and the Botanical garden!

I always love going to Avalon.

I always love going to Avalon. There is so much to do and plenty of ways to relax and enjoy the day, The excursions are always fun. I also enjoy the museums there. The history is interesting and helps me understand the history of Avalon. The golf carts are too numerous IMO and they are loud and sometimes dangerous. Some people do not yield to pedestrians. We were walking to the Botanical Gardens and was almost hit by some crazy drivers trying to pass another golf cart moving them to our side of the street where we were walking. The noise of them was horrible until we got to the Gardens and they left. There must have been over a hundred of them driving up the street. Sad. The Gardens are beautiful but the wild golf carts are ridiculous. They take away the ambiance of the island.
