I did a great tour of the Spice Farm, Prison island and Stonetown, and saw most of what I wanted to see. I had 5 nights there, 4 would have been plenty for just the Stonetown stay. More if you want to do the beaches. There are plenty of places to eat at reasonable prices. Just continue up Kenyatta street, past Freddie Mercury Museum until it narrows, keep going and you will find 2 little cafes on a corner, good food, good prices.

What a fabulous nation.
What a fabulous nation. Friendly people, everyone with a big smile on their faces and with the national motto, Hakuna Matata, what can go wrong.
I had heard that the food was no good over there, but I beg to differ.
Since it is an island, there is always breeze, which keeps away the bugs and makes the heat bearable for this Nordic Walrus.

We stayed in Zanzibar Sunday through Friday arriving by Ferry from Dar es Salaam. The port in Dar es Salaam is chaotic but once on the Ferry everything was good. I would suggest hiring a tour guide for the market near Cape Town Grill and also taking a drive around Zanzibar itself. Very kind and welcoming people who love to chat and show you around.
Take care not to drink tap water, ice or pre-cut fruit.

I visited Prison Irland, Slave Trade Market and Spices Farm .. For those who are interested in history I strongly recommend visiting Slave trade market. Stone Town itself is a historical place and worth walking around to see ancient buildings. I wish I had more time to visit other places.
Food might be an issue..

I liked Zanzibar city but I was shocked to find out that there were no road signs. People are driving anyhow and I felt so unsafe. I think they need to improve in that area. I also struggle with restaurants, I like Nando's, Macdonald, steers and many other my favorite restaurants but I couldn't find even one.

The location is amazing, right on the beach, so great for people-watching. The hotel is big, but not too big so it feels very cozy! The staff were incredibly nice, everyone from the concierge to the room service, to the guards, to the waiters - everyone!
The pool is lovely, but my absolute favorite was the 200-year-old mango tree. If you don't stay here, at least come for drinks and a look at this beautiful tree!
The Manor house is a super cute place to stay in Zanzibar city. The staff is more than amazing, I am really impressed by the people who work in the hotel. It's clean and perfect for relaxing. Plus they have their own garden with wonderful fruits and everything is super fresh!
Great location if you stay at the Hotel. It's right on the beach and in the hub of Stonetown. Staff were super friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was included and it was fabulous!!
Location, lovely room, excellent Breakfast. 👌 recommend this hotel as the place to stay. On the beach next door to Freddie Mercury museum. Could not have been better
