It’s a great hotel if you stay at Mafia Island. It’s in the Capitol of the island but you have to walk a bit to the city center. There’s always transport options. They have also in house agencies for whale shark trips and diving. I can recommend the whale shark trip which was incredible - a lot of whale sharks around me. The food was always good, could be a little bit more to be honest but always worked. The WiFi worked ok, sometimes it has some struggles. The people were always super friendly. The pool and the view were amazing!

The price is very very fair for what u get. The Toilet and the Shower work fine, the Fans in my room worked, the mosquitonet was whole. And Ally (the owner) and Bunda (the housekeeper) do everything to make the stay more comfortable. Both of them went out to buy me a ferry ticket because i was out diving that morning.. and it took hours of effort, they nearly failed because it was to crowed, but finally got me a ticket, which i am more that grateful for!! The breakfast Bunda is prepairing fresh for everyone is delicious! Its very close to the „city“, airport and port, and some restaurants are around as well.

Lovely staff, chef was very good (we had breakfast, lunch, and dinner), bicycles provided. Our host (Hassan) also organised our whale shark swim with his colleague Abou and even our pick up and drop off. Overall would highly recommend. It is on the Utende side of the island, meaning it’s closer to the Marine Park, restaurants, and dive spots (about a 10 minute bike ride or a 5 minute TukTuk ride).

Our 2-night stay at Afro Rooms Tents was a unique and memorable experience! The nights were warm, but the host, Mumba, personally stepped in to provide us with a table fan for the following nights, which was thoughtful and much appreciated. The team was incredibly flexible, even managing to include us in the whale shark tour at the very last minute—a fantastic highlight of our trip. A word of advice for future travelers: make sure to order your lunch and dinner well in advance. If not, ask the helpful guys like Saloum or Hussein (terrific people!) for suggestions. They can guide you to good restaurants, but be specific about what you want to eat. It’s important to remember that this is a small island, so dining options are somewhat limited. However, there’s no shortage of delicious local and traditional food to try, which adds to the charm of the experience.
