I have globetrotted for 25+ years staying in countless places of all types, countries and dealt with dozens+ hosts. Unquestionably, Saleh is the King of B&B Hosts. He has a lion-sized giver’s heart, a quick wit, a hearty smile and a focused eye on Above and Beyond Attention to Detail Customer Experience (e.g. In compound free Maasai Show.)
Saleh is native Zanzibarian therefore he coordinates soup-to-nuts, one-stop-shopping for all his guests’ needs/wants/desires during short or long term stays in his airport-convenient, walled, secure, spotlessly clean, very quiet BnB compound.
Amenities: Super-fast wifi (tested 78mps), spacious rooms, quality comfy beds, cold aircon, hot water shower, inclusive superlative English breakfast w/fresh fruits, fresh bread, Zanzibar spiced tea/coffee, fresh iced cocktail of mango/pineapple/avocado juice.
Bottom line: If you want HROYHI (High Return On Your Holiday Investment), Saleh’s Zenj House B&B is difficult to beat.
Note: I booked for 1 night and ended up staying 6 nights.

Had a wonderful stay at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel. It is a converted historic building. The room was large, clean, and had great air conditioning (which we needed as we were not used to such warm/humid weather). Daniela kept many of the historic elements of the building (wait until you see the locks on the doors…we loved it). They had made to order breakfast (along with cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc.). The staff were all very friendly, helpful and attentive (Iddi, Lulu, Elizabeth, Roderick, and Jamila). The hotel organized a walking tour of Stone Town and the guide, Khasim, was very friendly, thorough and knowledgeable. Everything in Stone Town is close to the hotel. We enjoyed walking along the water in the evenings as there was so much going on. Great stay.
I stayed 4 nights with my 11 year old son on Chumbe island.
I stayed 4 nights with my 11 year old son on Chumbe island. It was great to have time to feel at home and explore. Many visitors come just for the day and miss out on the lovely candle lit dinners on the sand, the crab walks and the overall relaxed atmosphere
Great snorkelling each day. Fantastic experience

This was a great introduction to the life in the islands.
This was a great introduction to the life in the islands. We enjoyed snorkeling very much with a knowledgeable and safe guided private experience. The food was good and served in unique places each meal. My 14-year old and I made great memories together here that will last a lifetime!
