A beautiful island but now spoiled by being over-commercialized. I was surprised walking down the main street at night - not much different to Khaosan road in Bangkok!
As this island is (supposed to be) a national park, they have now stopped boats from delivering guests directly to resorts. Everybody now goes through the same checkpoint at Nadan pier, then gets taken in green pickups (by road) to their individual resort.
The roads were never made to take this level of traffic, and this makes hiring a motor scooter to explore the island - not recommended.
Numerous (very severe) speed bumps that don't have a smooth approach and departure makes motor scooter riding less than enjoyable.

A delightful Island.
A delightful Island. We travelled as a couple in September and it was very peaceful at that time of year. The further south on the island that you travel the more tranquil it tends to be. We are returning in March.

I truly enjoyed the chill atmosphere. There are plenty of restaurants, cafe's, and bars along the beach. I can't say enough. It was a great place to visit and plan on going there again in the near future!

While I'm still exploring Thailand, Koh Samet has definitely impressed me. The combination of its beautiful beaches and its proximity to the bustling city of Bangkok is unbeatable. It's the perfect getaway for those seeking both relaxation and excitement.

A small cozy island with crystal turquoise water , sandy white beach. Beach activities., jetskii Very good food a bit expensive . Very good coffee for 80 - 90 bahts . Pizza for 350 bahts. Bugur is 250 . Seafood 400 bahts. Beside normal Thai food with normal prices. Bars on the beach or inside the city. Saikaew beach is great . I didn't see the other ones. Overall amazing place.

The restaurant did offer a nice wine selection as well as decent mixed drinks for your enjoyment. The outdoor beach dining area provided a great ambiance during the evening hours. There was a local performance, fire jugglars, that performed a quality show for the diners. We found it a wonderful and romantic weekend.

Loved the rooms. And the way they were spread out. Staff were all extremely good. Particularly Jee (F&B Manager), Kompak and Anny who immediately made you feel at home with smiles and help all week. No pool, but right on the beach with enough beds and loungers.
The eating area from lunchtime is by the sea and is very relaxing. Service can be a little slow but I think that is just a typical Asian thing. ( come on we’re on holiday and everything doesn’t need to be at top speed)
I would certainly go back to this resort.
The hotel was very nice and clean,,, the room I was allocated was grand for me and my guest.. The breakfast buffet was very well catered,,, a large variety of dishes to choose from, NB you must remember you are in Thailand. The grounds of the hotel are beautifully designed and maintained the beach is beautiful,, the hotel has beachfront bar and restaurant and nightly entertainment on the beach
The location is awesome, quiet, peaceful and the bungalows are right on the beach. The property, if renovated would be charmful, rustic, I think has great potential, however its rundown.
