The receptioist could have been more helpful. I walkwed into town and into the small hotel (Mitra, with the Roman ruin inside), and the recptionist there gave me gratis all the information I needed--about the spa, how to get there, which restaurants were open and how late on the holiday, etc. She even gave ne a discount ticket to the spa! This made me wish I had atayed there!

The location was excellent, walking distance to everything, the little bar downstairs was very pleasant with a nice ambience. The hotel has a lot of old Austrian character..
Offering an on-site restaurant with a variety of local and international dishes, Hotel Pomaranča is located in Ptuj, about 2625 feet from its center. Guests can enjoy the on-site café bar.
Very nice historic town by the lake and river. You have to see is the castle and its museums. You definitely should enjoy the breathtaking view of the surroundings. The Kurentova hiša museum in the city center is also great. We appreciated the nice interpretation of the guide who introduced us to an interesting local custom. I recommend eating at the fish restaurant Gostilna Ribič or at the restaurant Gostilna Amadeus. If someone likes ice cream, then I recommend Sladoled Deti at Slomškova street 14 where you can get a huge cone of great ice cream for 1.8 euros.

I loved it! The town has a very good vibe.
I loved it! The town has a very good vibe. Despite the old town not being very full of people, it is pretty amazing. We had the opportunity to have a tour guide, whom I highly recommend. She shared many interesting and funny facts or legends about this beautiful place. We stayed just for two nights, but next time I would love to take a bike trip around, visit the castle, and enjoy the spirit in the Music Cafe or the town cinema (the oldest cinema in Slovenia. :)

Ptuj is a lovely historic town.
Ptuj is a lovely historic town. There are thermal pools which are a little dated but still very pleasant. The best experience was the visit to the castle. After you buy your ticket you can visit an exhbition about local carnival tradition (Kurenti) and an exhibition showing the production of cotton, silk, linen and wool. Then you can go to the castle which has three floors. You can explore various exhibitions on your own, there are paintings, weapons, furniture, and a lot more. We especially liked the mix of modern "paintings" and the old ones.

Very nice old town with a pleasant town centre.
Very nice old town with a pleasant town centre. Easily walkable and nice pedestrianised areas. Quite a few sights to see, easily visitable in one or two days. Good choice of restaurants with lovely local food.
We didn't do any cycling but it looks like a great place and area for cycling. The river and local area are interesting for birdwatching. Apparently in the winter the river is a good place for seeing large numbers of wildfowl.

excellent location within 10min walk of Ptuj over the historic pedestrian bridege. car parking and lovely small terrace overlooking garden. enearby supermarket. VERY clean, well appointed, spacious apartment. Huge TV!
Ptuj is a good base to explore the tune region and cycle to Maribor.
The room was double booked. So we did not stay. The manager supposedly organised a stay in another hotel. When I got there I discovered no such booking was made. In the end I went home. It took an hour to try to work the original booking out and I missed the cultural event I went for.
Hotel is located just in Ptuj town center in very beautiful historical buildings, the hidden jam of hotel is inner hotel garden. We appreciated perfect service of reception, who helped us select best tours around town and recommended also best local wines provided by hotel.
Peter and his wife are wonderful hosts, I spent 1 night at Peter's place on my way south.
The apartment is located in a quiet part of the city of Ptuj, not far from the center- around 5 minutes by car.
Lovely position within old convent. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and the coffee the absolute best in the whole of Slovenia
