Location,Excellent Staff, cabin cleanliness and aurora spectacle on 21 Dec :-)
This guest house is in the center of Abisko and next to Abisko National Park. Depending on the season, the midnight sun and the Northern Lights can be viewed from the property and surrounding area.

We traveled to Abisko for winter activities and to see the northern lights. The Abisko Guesthouse was well positioned for this and offered many guided activities. It was a short walk from the hotel to a small grocery store, and a short walk up the hill to a nice restaurant at another hotel facility. The apartment itself met our needs with a small kitchenette and pots/pans/utensils for meals. The living room had a nice view over the lake and it was a pleasant walk to the shore. Everything was in working order and the wifi was good.
Abisko Hostel is offering accommodations in Abisko. Among the facilities at this property are a shared kitchen and a shared lounge, along with free WiFi throughout the property.

We traveled to Abisko in the winter and so there wasn't much daylight, but there were quite a number of guided tours available (aurora viewing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, etc.). I'm sure it would be great in the summer months for hiking and other outdoor activities. There was only one restaurant in town but it was very good.

Winter trip:
Winter trip:
Best location we visited between Norway and Sweden for viewing the Auroras. We finally found success here, when all the apps were saying there was no chance of success.
Abisko made everywhere else seem like a tourist trap.
There is very little light pollution here, and we saw more stars than I have seen since I was a child.
There is a grocery store if you need anything.
You can travel by train or by car.
There are plenty of outdoor activities to do, and you are provided with proper cold weather gear for every activity. If you want to do something on your own, you can rent equipment as needed.
There are only a few places to eat, so book in advance.

Views of the northern lights are great.
Views of the northern lights are great. Stay a few days to increase the chance of seeing them. We went there on the train which stops near the mountain lodge where we stayed. If you have a cabin you have cooking facilities. There is a good supermarket in the village. There is only one restaurant so book a table. When there is snow make sure you have good footwear. There are walks around the hills and down to the lake. Not so accessible in Autumn/Winter though.

If you like to walk, like outdoors then you will love this place whether it is winter or summer. The scenery is breath taking and there is so much of it. When I booked our 4 days there I was worried it would be too much, it turned out we would have liked more time there.
We would suggest that as everything is so remote that you are best with your own transport. Public transport is very very limited.

Abisko is a really beautiful place.
Abisko is a really beautiful place. We went there to see the Northern lights and we were not disappointed. We also joined a snowmobile trip near our accommodation and it was fun and adventurous to tour around while riding the snowmobile and see wonderful sceneries. There are some other activities that can be done in Abisko too. Loads of love from Malaysia.

Abisko is small and friendly with a significant international population during the tourist season. It was easy to reach by overnight sleeper train from Stockholm. There is plenty to do but most people were there to see the Northern Lights because of its reputation as one of the most spectacular and accessible places in the world to see them. The only place to buy food is the convenience store attached to the gas station but it has a good range, at the prices you would expect for such a remote place. We visited in a “heat wave” of -15C in December when the locals expected more like -25C. Most accommodation and activities rent or provide boots and clothing to help you cope!

We had a wonderful stay. The room and common areas, including the bathrooms, were very clean. Kitchen is fully equiped and well organized.
It is close to Abisko Östra train station, the supermarket and lake Torneträsk. Acces is very easy on foot to Abisko Turistation and various hiking trails. We were lucky to see the northern lights just outside the hostel.
It was a good place to stay when in Abisko. There is a short and beautiful walk to the National Park. It is also accessible from the train station by foot. The kitchen, a shared space, was well-equipped, kept clean, and spacious.
They made new additions to their accomodations. I stayed in the hut which is in the old train statation building. I think it is very nice. The kitchen is brand new. Probably the closest accomodation in abisko to the supermarket.
Overall a nice hostel and located perfectly for activities in and around the national park. It was mostly clean, the rooms were sufficiently large, and the kitchen well equipped. All of the staff was nice and helpful.
