Very welcoming and helpful staff. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. My room was toward the sea but on the first floor so I couldn't enjoy the view.

We came basically on the trail of Lawrence of Arabia, we were lucky to stay at Retaj Hotel close to the harbor and old quarter that we could easily walk to it as much as we wanted. However it was mid June during Eid ul Adha, shops and visitors attractions were closed, the city was quiet, and the heat and humidity kept us indoors most of our three day visit. Still it was fascinating to be in the city at this time, we didn't see much of Yanbu to make a judgement but we were grateful to make it, as it was our jump off point onwards to Umluj as well. The Yanbu Airport, by the way, was very impressive, and I love the long avenue of fire trees out to the highway. Neat and green landscaping made a great impression for us first time visitors. All in all a memorable visit to this part of Saudi Arabia, before we final exit as expats to start our retirement.

Getting there by car is a long journey from Riyadh.
Getting there by car is a long journey from Riyadh. The city has some well developed areas by the royal commission. Those areas are beautiful and clean and well maintained. Rest of the city is very simple and basic. Waterfronts are good and beaches are clean.

Yanbu is certainly underrated.
Yanbu is certainly underrated. It already offers a lot of great opportunities for snorkeling, diving and boat trips, as well as a nice old city center. Old city undergoing renovation work will certainly make it even better in the future. We found Yanbu people very nice and helpful.

Clean roads and well organized service areas.
I will try not to stay at hotels with unresonable prices and low quality.

We went for the scuba diving and no other reason, it was spectacular. We ate in local cafes, we were the only Westerners there & I was the only woman so people were curious but very friendly. The food was delicious & so cheap. Next time we will hire a car as it was difficult to get around but other than that, an amazing place.

Short stay in Yanbu was great, especially the hotel that we booked was just located closer to the pride of yanbu, the historical heritage. The staffs in the hotel were very accommodating, welcoming. The place was comfortable. We would book in the same hotel in the next visit.

The hotel is located in northern Yanbu, close to the beach and the corniche (but not directly at it). Stayed for one night when traveling from Jeddah to Al-Ula. Check-in took some time due to initial absence of staff, but went smoothly afterwards. Clean and spacious room, quite new and well equipped with refrigerator and water kettle. Good WiFi, free parking behind the buildings. Some rooms have sea view. No towels, no breakfast or other food options, although there is a fast food outlet in the same building. Hotel is good value for money.
Great location in front of the beach. Above all, the staff and hotel manager were extremely kind and helpful. It made a whole difference and made the Yanbu experience a really enjoyable one. We extended our stay by 2 nights..
