The apartment was spacious, bright and well-arranged. It’s in a busy working-class post-communist apartment complex - we felt we could in some measure feel what it was like to be a regular Romanian. Parking was good and access to the hiking areas were within a short drive.

Location was good. Niku was a great asset and helped me plan hikes. Rado also was very helpful.

Amazing mountains, a lot of snow, clean air, beautiful views, good roads quality, nearly is situated Lidl, 30km from Brasov, serpentine roads to the Omu Peak and Moldoveanu Peak. Forest and pretty nice people. Places to visit like waterfalls, national parks and others.

One of the best positioned cities for walking around. You can easily hike through Moeciu, Pestera, Sirnea, Fundata, Dambovicioara, follow the trails into the scenic Piatra Craiului Mountains, or visit the Bran Castle. Certainly a place for all nature lovers.

Zarnesti is a nothing town.
Zarnesti is a nothing town. The tourist information booth was always closed during our stay, including during the "open hours" that were posted. Restaurants are sparse. The reason to go there is to get quick access to the Carpathians. However, it is a challenge to know where to hike because the tourism office was always closed so we couldn't get a hiking map, & the signage on the trails is lame. The city could do so much to boost tourism but they seem uninterested. On a positive note - A really cool thing about Zarnesti is the Sunday morning market. I was fascinated. You can buy anything from strawberries to chain saws. They have amazing cheeses & fruits on offer.

Zărnești has a lovely clean central area. There are a few restaurants in the town all offering good value. The mountains dominates the skyline, this would be a good place to use as a base for mountain walks

Zarnesti is your starting point to explore Piatra Craiului National Park. There's a helpful tourism office in the center of town. Grocery, pharmacy, and other shops are easy to find. It has some nice guesthouses such as Hora cu Brazi. Restaurant Padina Craiului is a great place to grab dinner--try the roasted vegetables and grilled trout with polenta. Have some plum brandy with dessert! Getting a taxi to tourist spots like Libearty Bear Sanctuary, Bran, and hiking trailheads is easy--try "Pro Taxi" and avoid "Tur Taxi." Zarnesti is embracing the beauty of its natural surroundings and welcoming tourists, however it remains mainly a regular, working town with small farm holdings, which, as a visitor to Romania, are interesting to see.
Everything was more than expected. For three families the space is more than enough. Since it is a vila, you had to prepare on your own meal, but the kitcheen was equipped very good in this regard and we have also used the barbeque outside. The locations was great for us because we had our own cars for transport. Even though we stayed for 2 nights, we were able to visit the surroundings (Bran and so on) and go the Wolf Park Adventure and take a tripp to the "Cheile Zarnesti".
The place is newely refurbished, everything is brand new and looks beautiful. Sparking clean, confortable and beautiful garden. Cheile Zarnestilor e un traseu superb și începe în apropiere. Andrei, the receptionist is an amazing host, he took such good care of us, he contributed a lot having a great experience at Tohanu Vechi.
Hotel has beautiful, serene surroundings, no pollution and a large parking lot. The second room was OK, good mattress, with a rather large balcony, nice view.
