I loved Severin's Fortress, it was such an amazing find and I could have stayed all day. The city itself is pedestrian friendly with a lot of options for eating. The weather wasn't great and the fountains weren't on but that's about the only bad thing I could say about the stay.

It is a border town with all the problems that come with that. I cycled from Serbia and there was a shocking amount of dead dogs on the road. Then, terribly, there were young girls working as sex workers on the first off ramp. Just shocking. The Romanian Government has to help these people. It was so sad to see them.

The room was very basic but perfect for a one night stay.

The room was very basic but perfect for a one night stay. There was a restaurant on location in the inner yard of the building, in a beautiful garden setting. The food was delicious! Because of the restaurant, the garden may get noisy in the summer months but it was pretty quiet at the beginning of October. There were many cars parked on the street so it may get tricky to park in peak season. The city is easy to get around in and the city center is a 20 minute walk from the hotel.

It's a good location for using as homebase and then doing roadtrips every day in the surrounding area. City center also looks very nice with quite renovated buildings. A walk near the Danube river during the day is also great.

A city worth visiting due to the abundance of historical places and monuments. Also, on the shore of Danube close to the Serbian border. A chic and quiet city with a welcoming positive energy, definitely we will be back!

Large and well equipped hotel in the city centre, in a nice location close to the main attractions (old town, fortress, parks, Danube), shops, restaurants. Rooms are pleasant (though make sure you book the "superior room", especially in summer). Staff is nice and kind. Option for breakfast, restaurant, and private parking.

The room was clean, there was hot water and the bed was reasonably comfortable. I could park my motorcycle inside. The motel is managed by a friendly old couple and even if I don't speak Romanian well, we could talk a little bit in the morning before I left. For this price, if you are unpretentious, it's a good deal :)
