Casa Pintea de Sub Coastă, hotel in Breb

Boasting river views, Casa Pintea de Sub Coastă features accommodation with balcony, around 5.7 km from The Wooden Church of Budeşti.

We loved stepping into this multi generational family home. It was clean, had all of the basic necessities, and we loved the tapestries and other colorful touches around the property. We felt very welcomed, also by the neighbors as we walked around the town! If you choose this property, you absolutely must choose to also eat there at least one night! High quality, and literally 0 km! Delicious and abundant!

Big family Apartment in Breb's Cosy Barn, hotel in Breb

Featuring mountain views, Big family Apartment in Breb's Cosy Barn provides accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 5.9 km from The Wooden Church of Budeşti.

We are already planning to go back and stay much much longer in this wonderful place in Breb. It's indeed the most cozy barn, furnished and renovated with love, attention to detail, focus on guests' comfort and authentic design created by a collection of vintage objects. Very spacious for a family with two kids, with nooks and crannies to play, read, relax... it has all facilities you can think of - wonderful vintage ceramics, books and games for kids, washing machine with bio laundry detergent, you name it. Friendly dogs and cats complete the picture. Perfect Internet. Possibility to have copious local breakfast delivered. The village is a gem of a place, a great base to discover the churches of Maramures but also to just relax, walk and soak up the beauty of the nature and landscape. Cherry on the cake - the owner, most relaxed, helpful, warm and wonderful person.

Casa Bozai, hotel in Breb

Featuring mountain views, Casa Bozai provides accommodation with balcony, around 5.9 km from The Wooden Church of Budeşti. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi....

The hosts were warm and friendly and managed to overcome our language barrier with grace and good humour. They offered coffee when we arrived and home made Horica as soon as we sat down. The room was spacious, clean and so comfortable - the best bed in over a month of different hotels/pensiones! The ensuite bathroom was spotless. And the handmade embroidered wall hangings were simply beautiful. We were offered dinner for 50RON pp and it was a delicious 3 course traditional meal. This pensione is located in the traditional Romanian village of Breb in the mountains of Maramures. There is only a very weak internet signal but you will not miss it. A wander around the village and you will be so glad you switched off.

agritourism, but accommodation in a separate house for guests. the hostess welcomes you with a smile and a palinka 😁. the apartment is clean and fragrant, the bed is comfortable, in the morning you will be woken up by roosters and birds. there is a fully equipped kitchen in the building, but it is better to try the tasty and hearty breakfast served on site. hot water in the taps, greenery around - I don't think you need anything else to relax and rest....

Pensiunea Inima Maramureșului, hotel in Breb

Featuring a restaurant and free WiFi throughout the property, Pensiunea Inima Maramureșului offers pet-friendly accommodation in Breb.

Easy to find as you enter the village. Parking on site. The building is relatively new and very clean. The welcome from Ileana and Petro was very warm (take your Google translate with you). The room was small but very clean, good shower, bathroom, etc. Make sure you book for breakfast and dinner! Wonderful fresh, local dishes. Vegans could have a problem here. Ileana is the cook and explains all the courses in rapid fire Romanian. Fortunately an English speaking Romanian family took us in hand and translated and explained everything for us - they were so warm and friendly, like most of the locals we met.

We felt relaxed and welcomed , felt like we were visiting our family from the first moment we arrived there. We were spoiled by Mrs Ileana with the great food, most authentic food from Maramures, she made for us Papanași and cheese pie, but all we ate was so delicious, best soups I have ever ate. The village is beautiful and quiet, you can only hear the animals and wind, no car sound. Also the backyard is great with trees and birds singing and the outside terrace has a nice view. All the family was so nice, thank you for everything!

    Such a beautiful little hamlet!

Such a beautiful little hamlet! The fields surrounding Breb are gorgeous, with some looking like rice terraces. Very safe village with authentic Maramures wooden houses and farm land. Best kept gem in Romania!

Bréb is a beautiful, calm village where you can see real and authentic village life and a lot of animals. The wooden houses and doors are wonderful, in summer everything is full of flowers. It is a good startpoint for excursions to Maramures, UNESCO churches and much more. We tried two places to eat, Casa de Dochia and Bréb 148 Local Food and Garden, both were fantastic with excellent food and very nice people.

    Nice, traditional village.

Nice, traditional village. Beautiful strolls in and around the village. Very popular by Rumanians who come over during the summer hollidays. Hardly any foodshops and the few that are there and badly stocked. In case you are selfcatering you better bring food from the market in Sighet.

One of the best places to eat is Breb 148 Local Food and Garden. They prepare delicious meals and the view is quite spectacular. There is no music playing in the garden, so for that reason alone it became my preferred place to hang out. Another one is Casa Dochia, traditional restaurant and boarding house, which serves traditional food from the county of Maramures and very good horinca (alcoholic drink specific to the area). Word of advice: if you are a vegetarian like me, there aren't a lot of options for you, so be prepared to eat polenta in various combinations throughout your stay. It is fairly easy to get around Breb because there are a lot of signs indicating where the most popular places are. Casa din Vale was our choice for accommodation and I would sincerely recommend it to anyone who wishes a quiet, care-free, relaxing vacation in traditional, wooden houses. One of the trails towards Creasta Cocosului goes through the village, not far from Casa din Vale if you have a desire for adventure. There are also horseback riding options in the village or you can visit traditional artists at their homes and experience the magic of woodworking or pottery.

Quaint little village, old wooden houses and very welcoming people. Will cater to all ages and all types interested in rural tourism - this is what Breb does best. The surroundings are beautiful and the lifestyle is like the place was frozen in time. Highly recommended.

I almost don't want to recommend it for fear of tourism bringing too much change, but that would be selfish. Breb is an oasis of peace, tranquility and an opportunity to still experience life and tradition that didn't see much change for 100s of years, although change is happening. It is a rural village that is welcoming and has facilities, but not a place if you are looking for all the home comforts and retail and food outlets. Breb offers a base for exploring this beautiful part of Romania and there are tourist opportunities for visits and experiences through advertised groups.
