Fabulous and I mean fabulous breakfast - home made breads, cakes, speciality cheeses, plant-based milks, even mimosas available. Dinners were also exceptionally delicious, and my 7 year old even tried new things he wouldn't have because the food looks and tasted so wonderful.

Marvellous place. Very calm and peaceful. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The room was cozy, spacious and warm, we had a little terrace, a great place to relax in the sun. The views are fantastic over there.
Our kids liked feeding animals very much and the person who helped us was very kind to kids.

What did we like? Everything!!!! From the initial impression, the grounds, private parking, being DOG FRIENDLY, and beautiful decor to the warm and welcoming staff. Including the most helpful Joao, who was so kind and considerate. He went out of his way to make our stay memorable. Mario who was beyond friendly and always had a smile on his face, as well as Afrodita and ZIna. If I ever have a chance to return to Tavira, I would definitely stay at Hotel Don Rodrigues.

A great base for a stay as it's a lovely town & within easy reach of several other towns/villages by the local train.
We visited most of them on the same line to Faro in one direction with a few stops & Vila Real & a few stops in the other direction.
Took the ferry to Tavira Island and there are lots of lovely walks & plenty bike rental stores.
I researched the area before we went and found the link Pack the suitcases/Tavira had a wealth of information on the area.

Not my first time in Tavira, we have visited a few times before. Love the old town and a trip over to Tavira Island is well worth the couple of euros for the ferry. The beach is spectacular, goes on for miles, plenty of opportunities for some private sunbathing. The water is cold by Mediterranean standards but crystal clear and very refreshing. I would highly recommend a visit.

The beaches all along the coast were amazing.
The beaches all along the coast were amazing. You need to go through some run down areas to get to them. Tavira is a pleasant town with lots of eating places and has a fantastic cycle/walking route towards the sea.

We loved the location, great restaurants nearby.
We loved the location, great restaurants nearby. Our host was very helpful on arrival and questions we had. The roof top was lovely. The bed was very comfortable (except the sheet didn't fit the bed). The shutters made the room dark. However the floor tiles and the shower tiles were very dirty and the mat was not vacuumed very well.

Although quite touristy it was not overwhelmingly so with nice restaurants and shops and some lovely places to walk around. A beautiful small town, not tacky and full of character. Close to a lovely beach accessible by boat (and also by foot if you are prepared for a bit of a walk!). There was a fabulous silversmith, Carlos Pascoal, on the road near the old market place on the side of the river and pretty much opposite this. Beautiful hand made, quirky and environmentally appealing. Quite rare to find such lovely and quirky pieces...

A very attractive, compact town with plenty of eating places. Picturesque bridges over the tidal river are a delight. The town centre is lively and very walkable but town tourist bus and ferry to the island are welcome bonuses.

The best place we stayed in the Algarve, it exceeded our expectations by far. One of the calmest and most easy going hotel experiences we have ever had. Even though fully booked, there was so much space and calmness to find in the building. Fantastic location to walk to all main attractions of Tavira. The pool area was an oasis in the middle of the town. Fantastic breakfast, with fresh regional products and specialties. Very good and friendly service from the staff and the most amazing setting to eat inside the courtyard of the old monastery.
close to town and hotel facilities perfect for what we wanted as a chill at the end of the year which we were able to do by the pool as weather was great. breakfast selection good too although the coffee was dreadful - had to pay for an espresso or cappuccino which wasn’t great, most hotels we have stayed in Portugal which are many this was the first time, disappointing so we went out for coffee after breakfast and paid 70cents a cup!
The hotel is by the river in Tavira, which is a lovely place. We stayed on a room only basis which was fine as there are lovely cafes and restaurants just a short walk away. The ice cream at the cafe next door is delicious too. There is a supermarket a short walk away and more shops on the other side of the river. There is a ferry which runs several times a day which takes you over to a beautiful beach for a small fee.
Lovely and relaxed little hotel on the river. A perfect location for wandering around Tavira or catching the boat to the island from across the street. Warm and welcoming staff and a great breakfast included. Really good value for money. We'll stay again.
The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The restaurant gave us 2 of the most incredible dinners we had in all Portugal. The room was huge and super comfy right in front of the pool! We did some hikes walking distance from the hotel!
