Nice and cosy guest house / boutique hotel. Simple but nice decoration giving the place a nice feel. Close to the church square, restaurants and other amenities. Free parking in a number of streets nearby. Breakfast was also nice, particularly the fresh orange juice. There was also lactose free milk and some cooked breakfast (eggs, bacon and sausages).

The property is centrally located so you can reach lots of places to eat & drink on foot. It's also possible to reach one or two wineries and a gin distillery on foot if you don't mind a walk of up to 20 minutes. The house is big, it has a lounge and dinning room, 3 bedrooms; two bedrooms and one of the bathrooms were large and there is room for a table for 6 in the garden/terrace area
For exploring the area it's a good base and there is a lot to see in this area in addition to the many wineries such as the Alqueva lake, the hilltop town of Monsaraz and a couple of dark sky observatories

The hotel was in a very quiet relaxing area, with orange trees you could pick the fruit off of, and even a hotel cat hanging around. We went during a very quiet time of year and were the only guests the night we stayed which meant we got to meet and talk with the hotel owner (Rita) about the area and Portugal in general. Rita was very nice and welcoming, and made breakfast for us, even though we were the only guests that morning.

Very cute Historic Fortified Town. Its very well cared for, very easy to access and visit. Never forget that this is a town on the top of a hill, so there are a lot of walking up and down to visit it properly. We enjoyed a lot the experience. There are only a few restaurants, really just a few and I think they only cater to the tourist and, we followed the google maps rating to choose one and we did very bad. The food was not good at all for the prices charged, So I think in terms restaurants there they just try to take advantage of the tourists visiting , charging high prices and offering very plain not well prepared food, a tourist trap. We found a great excellent coffee shop by the old castle entrance (not the city main entrance). The nice lady served great 5* coffee.

Extremely cheap and great value for money. Especially if coming from the UK.
We were lucky enough to have local friends who drove. So we were able to travel all around the region everyday.
We ate in all the surrounding villages. Definitely try the snails, and black pork.
The village is very small, and everything within the village is walking distance.
To avoid on my next visit? Nothing. I love the place. I would consider living there once my Portuguese improves.

Reguengos de Monsaraz is a jewel that is starting to be discovered by the tourists from other countries. It seems that the Portuguese have hidden it from the foreigners. The people are welcoming and you have famous wineries to visit, castles and Monsaraz with the fantastic views that leaves everyone amazed. Seeing the sunset at the top of Monsaraz is an experience everyone should have at least once. You will think you're in a movie. The light, the colours, the views of kilometers long array of wineries and olive trees are breath taking! And it's located by the biggest artificial lake of Europe, with real beaches and where you can windsurf, stand-up paddle, take a trip on a boat, as you wish. And I haven't started talking about the food and the wine, and the michelin star restaurant at Herdade do Esporão. You can't get bored in Monsaraz while admiring the most beautiful views!

The town has really been improved over the years since our first visit in ‘05, our second in ‘14 and now in ‘22. The dining and snacking option have proliferated and it is now truly a mecca for wine enthusiasts. The only downside is the parking but the municipality does not seem to punish violators
The high points for us was a visit to Taberna Al-Andaluz; the owner / chef, Jose Morgado is truly remarkable in his passion as a host. Another high point was Jose de Sousa winery. The staff is both extremely knowledgeable and welcoming.

Reguengos de Monsaraz is not that interesting, but Monsaraz is absolutely gorgeous!! We loved it very much. The Alqueva lake is beautiful, and there is also a very cozy lake beach that we enjoyed a lot. We took a boat trip in the lake well worth it's value. There are many nice villages, like Mourão, with it's castle overlooking the lake, that are great to visit. We also did an activity of star gazing with proper telescopes and an astronomer to guide us, and it was super interesting - Alqueva lake is one of the best places to stargaze in Europe. We will come back again next year, and we want to stay longer next time.

This is a wine region of Alentejo in Portugal.
This is a wine region of Alentejo in Portugal. Just for the wine it is worth to go there. Besides, there are many lakes and Roman Ruins in the surroundings, as well as old villages filled with History. It's a very peaceful region.

Host was extremely helpful, organised and approachable. The site has parking for cars, swimming pool and barbecue/ table facilities. Besides, it's in the centre of Reguengos de Monsaraz and is a very convenient base to explore the region. Wifi works well and Tv set is smart and even has netflix and youtube available. The apartment was also extremely clean!

Good and clean, nice hotel with free parking in front of the door (not from the hotel).
There was a really nice restaurant on walking distance from the hotel (Tradicoes snack bar/ restaurant).. definitely recommended to go for dinner or lunch.
A quirky little hotel on the outskirts of Reguengos. Immaculately clean and comfortable. Very nice continental breakfast included in the price. Lovely staff.
