Friendly staff who make an effort. Although they struggle to run the big facility for a small crew. I read other reviews with complaints about the pool and cleanliness. That was brilliant when I was there with my family, so that told us, that the hotel does try to improve.

The place was wonderful, staff very friendly and accommodating. I was having work done on my home and had to move out for a few days with my pets. They were so welcoming and helpful throughout it all. Quiet which was welcoming. Beautiful view and I watched the horses in the morning playing in their pens while no one was watching, quite fun. The bed was very comfortable and had great pillows. Very clean.

We love that the house has a fireplace for colder nights and a pool for warmer days.
It has a great spaces to be outside as on the inside.
The rooms are super cute and beds very comfortable.
It comes with a lovely bbq where you can grill some meat or fish so you can enjoy all day around the pool.
It also has small villages nearby with great restaurants and also weekend markets where you can get some amazing grilled chicken.
You can do some trails and walks.
It's perfect for couples but also for family's with kids.
We honestly love it and hope to be back!

I ended up at the fantastic museum National Museum Machado de Castro (highly recommended) in Penela, only to drive away 2 1/2 hours later and pass by so many other beautiful and amazing buildings (part of the University) I wish I had more time to explore :)
The rooms are very nicely equipped with a big and modern bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful with all of our questions. The breakfast was good (we had bread, jam, ham, cheese, a little Joghurt and drinks), but nothing special. The hostel is in the center of Penela and we had free parking opportunities nearby. For the low price it is a excellent place and I would definitely return to this hostel
Penela is just great. The staff is really welcoming and there´s a vibe that surprised us a lot, the bar is quite fun and lot´s of international people around.
