Hotel has known better times. Host/staff was very friendly. Room was fine and clean, although a bit outdated. We enjoyed the balcony. Walking distance from bars and (few) restaurants and the beautiful fortified town Almeids.

Where do I start? One of the most unusual hotels I think I've ever stayed in! Check in was interesting - its unmanned till you ring a bell outside and car arrives up to let you in. The lady that checked us in had no English and we had no Portuguese, but we got by just fine and she showed us everything. The facilities are excellent - massive games room I wasn't expecting. Full gym and outdoor pool although it was too cold when we arrived for a swim. The rooms were fine - clean comfortable and completely silent. The nice bar - which I did use - was on the honour system - you mark down what you've taken and settle up in the morning. Had the bar to myself - actually we more or less had the whole hotel to ourselves! Breakfast was an excellent buffet and some lovely local honeycomb was also available. Secure parking provided for our motorcycles onsite. probably the best value during our entire Portugal/Spain motorcycle trip
Offering an outdoor pool and children's playground, Colmeal Countryside Hotel is located in Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo in the Centro Region, 50 km from Ciudad-Rodrigo.

As I already said, Almeida is a 17/18 century fortified place, a candidate to UNESCO's World Heritage, together with other Portuguese places. As a result many facilities, like the Military Museum and the centre of investigation of fortified places, were created as well as addicional touristic support. There are several restaurants out side the wall, which provide generally Portuguese traditonal dishes, specially the bacalhão, cod fish, and sometimes goat and lamb. If you enter in the centre of Portugal coming from Spain, Fuentes de Onõro / Vilar Formoso it's only 10 km away, so don't miss it.

I arrived a bit late so missed the museum etc as it was all closed, but will be back with my wife as there is a lot of history in the area and i love history and historic sites. It looks very nice so will be back. I ate at the Muralha hotel and the food was good.

Everything. This is truly a home from home. It feels you are visiting your grandmother who was an avid reader. The place is spotless clean, decorated with taste. Comfortable double bed, nice strong hot shower. Great internet to work and in the middle of the prettiest medieval town. Almeida is a must to stay and visit. A few restaurants inside and a better one just outside the wall of the city. Nothing was out of place or needed, but the hosts are nearby and attentive. Definitively recommended. Can't wait to return.
The Casa do Forno is a small house inside the walls of Almeida. Access via car was easy and we were able to park very close to the house. Our pleasant hosts met us upon arrival and showed us around the well-appointed house. The bedroom is upstairs and the kitchen and bath are downstairs. The house is small, but fully met our needs. Everything worked and it was very easy to access all of the historic sites of Almeida on foot. We would stay again.
Such a great little apartment right in the centre of Almeida. Kitchen and living on the main floor, bathroom and bedroom including sitting area up one flight and then a beautiful terrace up another two small flights of stairs. We really enjoyed our stay and meeting the owners who were lovely people. The apartment is close to restaurants, coffee, museum and groceries.
