This weekend I celebrated my birthday in Vieques with my boyfriend, and the Old Crow Hotel was just what we wanted.
A perfect combination of luxury, comfort, privacy, beautiful views, a heated pool, and room facilities to prepare your own meals if you wanted it. Still, ther were kind enough to share a list of suggestions for nearby places to eat, shop, taxis, car rentals and excursions.
We put up the 'Do Not Disturb' sign, and although they respected it at all times, they texted us to see if we needed towels or anything else. The self check-out process is perfect.
They exceeded our expectations.

Guesthouse owners Amanda and Todd made us feel incredibly welcome in their lovely and relaxing property. They provided a lot of information about the island, had amenities available such as chairs and towels, and regularly checked with us to see if there was anything we needed. We had a wonderful time and would stay there again on a future visit.

I loved that they left a handmade keychain made with local items! So cute and thoughtful. Big shower. The family/game hang out room was cool. Also loved the 2 roosters, chickens and some baby chicks that hung around, the cats , the peacocks , and random horse that would get close enough to see. Owner also allows to borrow beach chairs, buggy-board and provided 2towels.
It was my first air bnb experience and I liked it.

The grounds, the room decor and accomodations, the yoga and the food was delicious, even though we are not vegan.

The backyard campsite was beautiful and relaxing. It was very close to the beach and restaurants. The tent, bed, shower, and bathroom were clean. You can hear the frogs and the rain as you sleep. It is great to have a camping experience without bringing all your own camping gear. The hosts were knowledgeable and friendly and offer a great tour where you see many things that are off the beaten path.

We spent one night on Vieques, and it was enough time. There is currently an issue with too much seaweed on the beaches on one side of the island, so we restricted our visit to the resort we stayed at and then we walked around the area near the ferry terminal to have a bite to eat and buy souvenirs. If you rent a car or golf cart, use caution when driving. There are wild horses and chickens in the roads frequently. It is a beautiful island.

If you have dreamed of having your own private beach...Vieques is for you! Bring everything you need because there are no facilities on the beaches. Very beautiful, but I think Flamenco beach in Culebra is perfection. My fave is Luquillo Balnearion Monserrate...so convenient.

Most of the remote beaches on the east side are closed due to stray bombs. They do not advertise this fact well.
The social climate on Vieques is somewhat hostile. The vendors are dishonest, trying to rip you off. Lots of rude people, drunks and bums. A fistfight and shouting match broke out on our ferry ride. The locals and strays seem to be annoyed by the masses of tourists. The restaurants are a bit expensive.
Overall it's a huge hassle getting to the island and then finding a car/cart. You're probably better off staying on the big island beaches. That being said, it's a beautiful spot and there's some nice snorkeling spots.

We came to see the BioBay.
We came to see the BioBay. It is quite a chore to get over there, so make it worth your while! We ate at Bananas and talked with a few of the locals. Got to see the wild horses that are all around the island. Enjoyed a sunset walk oceanside.

Must explore the island. So many beaches and scenery to view. Use the time to dine at smaller local restaurants as well for local cuisine. All rental and tourist support places were friendly and very helpful!

Vieques is gorgeous! There are so many beach opportunities.
Vieques is gorgeous! There are so many beach opportunities. We visited only four beaches on this trip since we spent only one day on Vieques. However, we loved driving across the island on a golf cart and taking in all the scenes. The horses everywhere give it a magical feel, and everyone is so friendly and laid back. Make sure to have cash as many vendors/food trucks don't take cards. The bio bay is INCREDIBLE and should be on everyone's bucket list!!
Lejos exceeded our expectations. We go once a year to Vieques to disconnect and recharge and Lejos will definitely be our go to option for our stay.
Patricia and Phil (the owners) run the property and are great hosts. Patricia’s culinary abilities are top. We loved the breakfast, specially the tortilla española.
They are pet friendly. We were able to travel from puerto rico with our pet. 🙌🏼
The people were very nice, kind and the service was amazing! Makes you feel home. And the idea of camping is so cool specially if you're staying for few days, because with so many beautiful beaches around the island you only need a comfy bed and bathroom at night to rest a little bit and go back to have fun. The place is a short 8min walk from Esperanza beach
Everything, the facilities were neat and cleaned, having beach chairs, towels and cooler was amazing! I loved the honor code of taking snacks and refrigerators at any time. We loved the attentions, service and all the orientation to visit the island!
The tents were quite spacious. Proper washrooms and clean showers, as they are attached to the backside of the host's residence. The host was quite helpful and also showed us around the island before dropping us at the ferry terminal.
We had a great time at Nick and Shelly's place! They were open and helpful and we got the best experience of the island because of them. Only thing I would do differently is not walk at night to their place.
