Elk is a very nice town to visit and walk around, a trip to the waterfront on the lake during the summer months is a must! It has a beautiful view but an abundance of bars on the waterfront also. Most of the bartenders and serving staff speak decent English, to get thru the language barrier for you to order a drink or food. I would recommend carrying local currency to pay for things instead of using your cards everywhere.
Rafal is a great host that takes lots of pride in his apartment. He met me at the agreed upon time with a smile. He showed me how to input the door code and the rest of the apartment. It’s a beautiful large space, nicely decorated and in the middle of town. Lots of restaurants in walking distance. He sent me a list of his favorite places for food and entertainment. I highly recommend this apartment. You will not be disappointed!
The hotel is located right near the lake and regardless of a pub downstairs, noise does not reach to hotel rooms. There is everything you need to enjoy your stay in Elk nearby - bicycle rent, boat rent, restaurants, grocery shop, etc. The food in restaurants Smetek is simple, but tasty. Staff is friendly and no problems for English speakers.
