Government instabiliy - near day of scheduled arrival (a) riots in Islamabad by supporters of former leader jailed by current Government and (b) separately, Pakistan military airplanes attacked Afghanistan, and Afghanistan retaliated. Also International Monetary Fund issued mandate to limit energy charges as condition to extension of IMF financing, which means certain territories of Pakistan are limited, in effect, to about 2 hours of electricity per day. My planned stay in Islamabad was interim step to travel to Karachi. In Karachi during period I was to be in Karachi, estimated 200 supporters of former leader jailed by current Government were also reported to be jailed.

I have always loved Islamabad for its greenery, cleanliness, and peaceful atmosphere. However, this time, I didn’t enjoy it as much due to the city's current challenging conditions. During my visit, I only went to Daman-e-Koh and tried the new restaurant, Food Dome, which I found to be quite good. Also, be cautious of cab scams—drivers may try to overcharge if they realize you are a traveler.

Perfect city safe neat and clean and too chilled weather with easy access too all areas. Taxis, Careem , Indrive and Yango online taxi services also available. 24/7 Airport metro cab also available. PERFECT ECPERIENCE. JUST NEED TO IMPROVE ISLAMABAD AIRPORT ENTRANCE TO CHECK-IN COUNTER ACCESS. TOO MISMANAGED.

Islamabad was much less chaotic than I had expected.
Islamabad was much less chaotic than I had expected. Driving was a very pleasant experience.
I met up with a travel group who advised that female travellers are likely to be verbally harassed or even touched by men. We (a group of 4 women) avoided this by being accompanied by our male Pakistani guide and driver.
That said, I didn’t observe any unpleasant behaviour towards any unaccompanied women.

Everything was just great. We were a family of 4 and were given the best comfort in just 1 room. The staff was excellent and extremely cooperative, espicially the receptionists Mr. Faizi and Mr. Zohaib. The breakfast menu was also great and the waiyers never failed to do their jobs as they did it with great excellency and with a smile on their face. If we wanted to order anything we would get it in less than 2 minutes. We stayed here for 5 days which were the most memorable days of our lives with Shelton's Ambassador Hotel.
